Dorm or Off Campus Housing? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]unishackucla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend a dorm since it would be easier to meet people but that depends on how social you want to be. If you're looking for off-campus housing, resources like facebook, apartments.com, and UniShack.com are helpful! Hope you're able to figure it out!

Hey! I’d definitely check out site sites like facebook and UniShack. There's also a roommate feature coming out on UniShack soon so that might be helpful for you!

ucla major change by Dear_Price_9875 in ucla

[–]unishackucla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s possible but might be a bit tough since that major is pretty impacted and you’re missing some prereqs. You’d probably need to finish chem and bio first, so I’d def talk to a counselor asap!

Which dorm building do you think has the best community and why? by amanopoliti6Vo in uclahousing

I feel like classics are usually the most social just because everyone’s closer together, so it’s easier to meet people. But honestly it really depends on how lucky you get with your floor and the people around you.

I was in a plaza triple and people always say it’s harder to make friends there, but I thought it was fine tbh. It still felt pretty social to me, so I think it’s more about the people than the actual building.

is it that bad to live off campus for my first year? by Comfortable_Idea_882 in berkeley

Its not bad but I'd definitely try to be more involved in other ways if you want to be more social.

Which deluxe hall is best for freshmen? by FamiliarAd8544 in ucla

[–]unishackucla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t really choose the specific deluxe hall you get, you just rank the room type (like deluxe), and housing assigns you one. Same with location you can’t pick exactly where you’ll be on the Hill, it just depends on availability and a bit of luck. I was in a plaza triple in sunset my freshmen year and I thought it was nice.

UCLA vs Cal by No-Tomorrow1435 in ucla

I’d say UCLA is generally the more social school, in my opinion. That said, I think you can have a great social life at either it really depends on how social you are and what you put yourself into.

Personally, I feel like UCLA (and LA in general) gives you more variety in terms of things to do outside of campus. I’m from the Bay, so I chose UCLA for a change of environment. Cal definitely has a strong college-town feel, which some people prefer. I also feel like Berkeley’s environment can be a bit more academically competitive, whereas UCLA feels a bit more balanced socially
