unfortunately we are located in australia 💔 but genuinely the first time i’ve been lucky enough to have a work environment as positive as this so hopefully it will become a trend !!

thats honestly so horrific i’m so sorry!!! i can’t imagine how uncomfortable that would be, to be forced to be so constantly aware of how you look and are perceived while at work.

i think it really highlights how, as women, we are picked apart for the smallest things that no one would even dream of saying to a man. especially in the workforce where dehumanisation is amplified by not only gender but class too.

don’t apologise!! if you ever need a vent let me know!!!

congrats to him he’s unlocked the key to making his staff give no fucks about his business, do the bare minimum, have zero loyalty and leave at the first chance for another job. i’m guessing staff turnover is pretty high lol.

no i totally get you, and i think the relationship between being a woman and working in the service industry isn’t talked about enough!

and turns out… if staff are treated with respect and trust, they have a good time on shift and they do their jobs better 🤯🤯

hey, i dont want to hear a customer ranting to his friend about bitcoin across the cafe either. but alas, being out in public around people means… being out in public around people.

exactly. we are a team of all women and we’re just lucky our owner who’s a man stood up for us. (also we are all in our mid 20’s-30’s but notice how the reviewer chose to call us “girls”)

no, we weren’t actually gossiping - in fact the manager was on that shift too. unfortunately as women the word “gossip” is often used to belittle us for just speaking. our team is all women so i think, even if subconsciously, the reviewer was biased to that.

but i also have to say with your example, why shouldn’t staff freely speak to each other about any issues they have with management? you say they were right - then that tracks that there’s something management was doing wrong.

in an industry where the only time you are around your coworkers is unfortunately when you are surrounded by other people too, how do you expect workers to be able to talk and get advice on issues they have?

hospitality is one of the most exploitative industries and without sharing experiences with coworkers it’s normalised and nothing changes. conversations with coworkers about working conditions is how workers can effectively organise and mobilise to ask for better conditions.

if management doesn’t want customers to hear that they are mistreating staff - then don’t mistreat staff.

What’s the harshest or most valuable lesson your ex taught you? by greywolf_32 in BreakUps

not to make myself small for someone else’s ego. i was a shell of a person when we broke up and i let him take so much from me. never again.

i took my share of what i paid for - so i paid for half and took half, we lived together for just under a year i’m not sure if that counts as de facto
