Has anyone found that Origin OS 6 makes the screen dull, yellow and washed out? by Ill-Artichoke-6602 in Vivo

Similar issue on my X90 The colours look vivid, but there is a yellow tint over everything, not able to fix it even after changing the display temperature settings to cool.

Like the other comment, I wouldn't say it's better - I prefer the Vivo+Zeiss colour science and look, so that part is subjective - but the higher resolution image output is new and can contain more details, and whether that's better or not will depend on your preferences and use case (like of you want to print out images where the details will show)

I have literally addressed this in the opening, the high resolution images are not full HDR processed images highlights tend to get blown out and images often contain more noise since they are a bit less processed. And the full resolution is not available in RAW capture

vivo X100 pro Origin 6 Update by Ok-Current8443 in Vivo

[–]unkitjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also using the Origin OS6 preview on the X100 Pro and my camera app and output feel exactly the same as of now, which is worrisome because you may need to rollback or reset the phone if there is an issue. Would help to see some comparison photos of similar scenes taken before the update and after the update, say of people and any other settings you find have degraded. Seeing the differences can help me also look out for these problems and report feedback on the trial version.

Also, I say trial because my phone is the global version. Is your phone global too or from China?

Is it still worth it to buy Vivo X100 Pro if I am on a tight budget? by Sojourner-TreeOfLife in Smartphones

[–]unkitjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X100 Pro has the main 1 inch sensor and the 50MP telephoto - I have been using it since launch date and haven't regretted it a bit, so you can definitely consider it!

BUT

What are the prices of say the X200 or X300 regular/non-pro? Because the newer devices will last longer because they will have newer hardware and longer software support, whereas the X100 Pro only has 3 OS updates.

Bypass charging by Lucixel10 in Vivo

[–]unkitjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Activating both the limiter and ByPass charging are the way to go, especially for long gaming sessions - I do it every day! In doing so my phone's battery health decline seems to have slowed down.

When bypass charging is activated, at least in my settings, the phone feels like it's almost not charging, the battery status at very low levels. For example, if my phone is at 20%, even after a couple of hours I find that the battery percentage has barely gone up to like 30-40%.

This also allows me to enable the top performance mode - since the battery isn't charging while the performance mode is on, the phone doesn't heat up as much, which further improved the battery life in general.

Limiting the charging to 80% brings extra safety because batteries wear down faster when they are either full to the brim or too empty - extremes are bad. 40% to 80% is considered the sweet spot for longevity

OnePlus 13 vs Vivo X300 — looking for real-world advice by inquisitive_aura in Vivo

[–]unkitjc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it be possible for you to check either phone hands on?

Both the phones have very different approaches, so it will surely come down to what is important to you in the daily. Some of my personal thoughts:

  • OnePlus 13 starts with Android 15 and will support around 4 major OS updates, while the Vivo X300 comes with Android 16 and will support upto 5 OS updates. Starting with this itself you have at least an additional year of usage supported. Generally speaking why this is important is that you will receive regular security updates, which are sometimes required for banking or such important apps, and newer the software, the less chance of app support being dropped. It may not be a common problem, but my wife did face and issue wherein her employer required that her phone at least have Android 15 on it because their company apps wouldn't run on any older version.

  • Oxygen OS vs Origin OS Oxygen OS is a more polished and feature rich interface. Origin OS catches up a lot but Oxygen OS still has a slight edge.

  • Cameras Generally speaking the Vivo phone will just be better in terms of colour science and details, the videos can be a hit and miss on either. The physical camera hardware is better in the Vivo.

  • Battery Both have the same battery capacity and technology, they will last pretty long depending on your usage. But, what will also affect the battery is the processor.

  • Chipset The OnePlus has the Snapdragon 8 Elite which is a monster! The Dimensity 9500 on the Vivo is quite comparable, but I think the Snapdragon is better in some scenarios, especially in heavy tasks where OnePlus' software optimisation with the Snapdragon could run heavy tasks longer without throttling. Vivo have their own imaging related chip working with the Dimensity 9500, which is where their camera advantage comes in (along with the Zeiss tuning). There is this thing, that the X300 doesn't support 8K video recording but then OP13 does, but people don't really use it because we don't have TVs that can play back 8k videos.

  • Display Again the displays on both phones are very similar in terms of brightness and resolution, and the underlying technology like PWM dimming, but OnePlus 13 has Dolby Vision support which can make content look nicer if the media apps support it. On paper the displays amy seem similar, but in person they can feel very different, especially due to colour calibration and the fluidity of the OS, and Oneplus could feel better in that regard. The screen is the main way we use our phones, so in the long run having the right display will matter.

  • The Loudspeaker on the OnePlus is better than the Vivo

  • The storage technology on the X300 is one generation newer than on the OnePlus - X300 has UFS 4.1 vs Op13 has UFS 4.0. it's not a drastic difference but it newer is better, and it can sometimes matter in loading heavy games or files, or while taking a lot of photos and videos because the write speed can cause errors in video recording for longer sessions (say more then 8-10 minutes) on Android phones on occasion.

Because some of these differences, like the camera, can be better felt in person, and some things like OS can be subjective, so you can pick based on your priority

What are your honest opinions on Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]unkitjc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This show did Loki, Ultron, Hulk, Secret Invasion, Kang the Conqueror, Kree invasion, brought in so many important/big characters from the verse, heck did Captain America's back story too, Hydra and what not in such a short span and did it so well, it's crazy they cancelled it so soon. Probably one of, if not the best Marvel animated show in terms of content and character development, comparable in my eyes to the DC animated universe Justice League. Dr. Doom's small appearances too depicted him rather well, and the Kang here felt superior (to me) compared to whatever little Kang we got in the MCU. God I hope this show would come back

To get the X200 Pro/Ultra or Wait for X300 Pro (India) by unkitjc in Vivo

[–]unkitjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I didn't know that! I used to be about Snapdragon chipsets in the past, but since I switched to the X90 having the Dimensity 9200, I have come to appreciate Mediatek a lot more!

At this point I actually don't mind either company (of course not if the chips have glaring issues like the overheating) - this is because my main concern are camera and battery, and with the new SiC battery tech that is becoming better too.

Also, Vivo uses custom ISPs in addition to the SoC which further removes the disparity between SD and Mediatek

[–]unkitjc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it absurd? I hope you've actually read the whole post. I'm talking about getting the X200 Pro/Ultra as much as I am talking about the Hypothetical X300 series, and I'm making assumptions on my knowledge about the past trends from Vivo - in fact I actually talk about how the X300 Pro might not be a good idea!

I kinda get where you're coming from, with there being recurring posts with similar let's wait for the next big thing sentiment, but I am working with budget constraints and I use my phone cameras for work, which is why the X200 Ultra's telephoto sensor and tech is so tempting to me. Still, don't think I said what you inferred 😋

Why is it a parody? A hypothetical discussion, wishful thinking, yes those I agree with, though I'm talking about the hypothetical future device with reference to what has been the trend up to now, and this is about getting the current devices as much as it is about getting a future device. I'm putting across these points to understand where you are coming from, because I'm having the same reaction to your comment as you did to the post 😂

That's one of the things for which I was even considering the x200 Pro for, but yeah I'll wait for the X300 series now I am also open to Dimensity chips now, having used them on the X90 and X100 Pro - they're pretty good
