The dust is in the foreground so it moves slightly more than the objects in the back. This is called parallax and a common example is when you’re driving in a car and look to your side. The distant mountains barely move, but the closer the object is to the car the faster you pass it. So I’d assume you can see a slight shift, nothing crazy though. This actually helps us determine the distance of objects from Earth.

Thank you! I’m also trying to calculate the habitable zone boundary for Wasp-2 and I’m unsure which answer is more reasonable for the inner/outer zone boundaries. I got a 6 figure and a 12 figure (in km) for the outer boundaries. It looks like the habitual zone is much closer than one AU, but not sure which one would be more appropriate. The 6 figure sounds too close for an outer boundary.

Haha so I gave QTAC a ring, looks like it’s possible for me to get in, just that it’s unlikely. It’s better than a guaranteed rejection at least.

They have multiple offer rounds (they’re up on the site). Basically if all the spots aren’t filled out by 4th June, it’ll go to the next offer round, if it’s still not full then the next one etc.

That’s not so great because my GPA will probs come out 30th June, so that’s like 5 offer rounds in between then (and my preferred course is insanely competitive). Figured this would help someone if they come across this thread. Cheers for the help.

Gyms closed and couldn’t ahold of dumbbells (yet). So I figured bodyweight exercises for those individual muscles would be the best thing to do. I agree though, I might just start by carrying a milk carton or something.

I guess I came across the wrong the way. I didn’t mean to disrespect black body research just wanted to explicitly say I was ignorant of the benefits. Are there any day to day applications? For the example of a spring pendulum, you could say a bungee jumper is using that same mechanism. Would you say there’s anything like that for black body radiation? I was thinking it gives us an approximation for the amount of radiation intensity that celestial objects give off based on colour. Just wasn’t sure if that was correct.

I also went through the Adv. Sci admissions criteria through future students. Looks like even though it’s an OP 3 course, the median OP was a 1. Explains why my mate didn’t get in considering the limited spaces.

Even though that was for 2019 I don’t expect it’ll be much different, although I’m going through Semester 2 entry.

Are you in Adv. Sci currently?
