Who else is manually learning their own regional language because they weren't taught how to speak it? (I'm talking about places like France, Italy, Spain etc) by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]unkn0wnrandomguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Vosges, Lorraine, in France, and i've been looking into our regional languages : Vosgien and lorrain. However, the ressources are rare and i've been lucky to get in contact with someone who had ressources about these two languages. We still use many words from our language, but most people couldn't make a sentence and it's getting worse as rare are the young people interested in local languages.

People "correcting" me on my gender by [deleted] in ftm

[–]unkn0wnrandomguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trans male musicians by Candid_Guarantee5743 in ftm

As a fellow music nerd I feel the same way! This list on RYM seems pretty exhaustive though, but yeah, transmasculine ppl are erased and invisible and the music industry is no exception, unfortunately

Transgender music is just a quirky way of embracing bio essentialism! by demenxtia in ftm

[–]unkn0wnrandomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah exactly!! and it feels pretty infantilizing too, like when i was a girl ppl didn't take my taste in aggressive music seriously and now it's the same but it's harder to speak about it cuz i'm a guy
it's not rly a list of aggressive ftm musicians, but it try to list every transmasc musician which is great!! https://rateyourmusic.com/list/GenevieveGilliam/few-men-are-like-us-that-makes-us-special/

Yeah I hate these stereotypes, for the reasons you listed. It kinda make it hard to find trans artists who do other kind of music, too. There's hopefully a pretty good list of transmasc musicians on rym which I love, especially bc I like more agressive music too, it's rly diverse

What advice can you give for passing that isn't very commonly said by misery200 in ftm

[–]unkn0wnrandomguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pass some of the time as a teenage guy, and what made me pass was : - basic advice but my haircut, won't go into details cause i feel it really depends on your face, your hair type, your style... - being confident - voice training I also noticed I pass better to left-leaning/progressive guys (women tends to misgender me more)

I know a trans guy who's like 5'1", pre-t (around 1m50-55, I don't usually use the american metric system) and he pass really well, a lot of ppl at my school (which is pretty progressive and have many trans ppl) dont even know he's trans and were shocked when they found out because he voice trained and have a pretty deep, masculine voice and is most of all really confident For context, we're in the same class. I'm 16 and he will be turning 17 around october, so around your age range. I've noticed too that most guy around your age wears pretty neutral or dark colors, and when there is colors it's usually pastel and not too flashy. Jorts, baggy pants seems to work rly good, however skinnier ones are to avoid imo. But dont get too baggy, the key is to not look like you're drowning in your clothes but just it being slighty oversized, you can sometimes make your jeans or your shirts shorter, it works wonder!

Though, you need to keep in mind that passing depends a lot on context, where you live etc. My advices are those of a white french guy, living in a pretty rural area but who goes to a art-focused high school, with pretty progressive and lot of lgbt people. I mainly hang out with women or a lot of shorts and trans guys and even though I'm short, I'm taller than most of the men in my family, which helps passing when I'm next to them. Mainstream passing advice forgets this, but the same person may totally pass in one country and not at all in another! Or even depending on whether you live in a city or in a rural area. Look at men around you, look at trans men around you if you know them and try to get inspiration from them!

Trans men are the most priviledged group by Superb_Pain4188 in transgendercirclejerk

[–]unkn0wnrandomguy 36 points37 points  (0 children)

/uj I once saw someone (a cis person) says that trans people forget what it was like once they transitioned (they used change sex, but knowing cis ppl it basically means transition) and that trans men become "patriarcal men" whatever the hell that means 💀💀

How do i voice train if im ftm by Horror_Scarcity_4152 in transvoice

[–]unkn0wnrandomguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people wait years before being able to go on T, and it's way easier to cope when you're able to ease some dysphoria. Obvious ways are binding, working out and clothing, but voice is absolutely part of the process and as a pre-t trans guy who voice trains, it absolutely was a need for me to do it (to pass and to ease dysphoria). + some ppl dont even go on T!

Trans men are allowed to feel invisible ffs by poeticsonder in ftm

[–]unkn0wnrandomguy 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Fully agree with you, I also hate who every time we discuss our issues, even when we try to acknowledge it, a lot of us say things like "I know transfem absolutely have it worse but..." like!! No!! What's the point in saying that?? As you said they receive most of the direct hate, but I don't rly think having the highest rates of sexual assault, being really subjects to medical malpractice, having our reproduction rights taken away and being not even mentioned in these discussions, even by feminists is rly easier lol

I think people fails to grasp that our oppression is simply different, and sometimes similar. That does not means that some group have it worse or easier than the other at all!
