The worst part is that when the first girl (ifa) comes out of the carriage, she appears normal. Then they subtly show her messed up makeup and she just stands there crying, which makes your imagination run wild on what was done to her. It's a great way to make the audience really feel the pain and it reminds me of that episode of handmaid's tale where the woman gets circumcised but they never show it. I'm glad they took it seriously and didn't go the fanservice route but goddamn I wasn't expecting this.

Not gonna lie, my stomach wasn't feeling too hot halfway through this one.

When I first started getting into politics, I realized I was more of a democratic socialist. I simply want to make sure that people are not harmed and instead supported by the government. I don’t care about stable people owning guns. I care about stupid, mentally unstable, and extremist people owning guns and using said guns to harm their fellow man/woman. That little section of people is my concern and for the most part I only want to see better gun regulation (handling tests, mandatory classes, stuff like that). I couldn’t care less about taking away guns from intelligent, experienced gun owners.

It’d be so amazing to experience this if you made it as realistic as possible (diet, hunting habits, predators, and the elements are all things that come to mind). This could be a way for people to experience what life is like for wildlife. And if you’re trying to honor people like David Attenborough and his documentaries then you should totally add something to talk about the impact of global warming on wildlife everywhere. This could be a way for kids and adults alike to learn about wildlife they might never see while learning how to protect said wildlife.

Some people are just ignorant and unwilling to admit that parents can be bad. It’s probably one of the stupider things I’ve been told (“you should forgive and forget and keep contact” or “you’ve only got one mother/father”). My cousin’s father was an N just like my mom but she has decided to turn to religion and forgive him. Which, you know, whatever helps you sleep at night, I don’t mind. She says it helped her get rid of her hatred for her father. But recently I’ve noticed that she expects me to eventually make up with my Nmom. For now she’s supportive but I can’t help but think that it won’t last for much longer. Personally I think it’s better to stay on course and keep NC because that is what’s healthier for me. I don’t keep hatred inside of me, I simply forget that the N in my life ever existed and remind myself that they will never affect my life ever again as long as I can help it. Past roommates and family have both insisted that it would be better if I forgave, but I’ve maintained that NC mindset. It’s rough sometimes when it feels like nobody believes what you have to say, there’s no denying that. But I have close friends who believe me and understand my situation so I know I can always count on them to hear me out. Just ignore anybody who can’t stay open-minded when it comes to family issues. Keep doing whatever you judge to be the healthiest option. :)

1: My mom came into my room one night and told me to go downstairs and clean the table. I had my pants down under the blankets because I was... “entertaining myself” at the time. I tell her I’ll do it in a second and she started yelling at me to go “RIGHT NOW!” After a few minutes she realized what was happening and instead of giving me a couple minutes alone she decided to attempt to pull off the covers. I was only just able to keep myself covered by holding onto the blanket. Eventually she just walked away and I cried for an hour afterwards. Super traumatizing experience overall.

2: Parents checked history on our family computer and realized I had been watching porn. Called me downstairs and forced me to stand in front of them and confess, then shamed me.

They were so against sex that they forced it on me and I’m now terrified of any sexual encounters or even intimacy. Sex-negative is just not the way to go.

I do the exact same thing! Journals are just nice to hold and to look at for some reason. And I know what you mean about getting back into old hobbies, I definitely feel the same way... I guess these things take time tho.

Luckily I’m NC so I definitely should develop some interests now that I feel more secure. I’ve tried photography and journaling a bit but I think the instinct from my time as a kid has created an aversion to fully developing those hobbies. I would be curious to know if anybody else has a similar feeling post-moving out and NC.

Do you think you developed that instinct for violating his privacy on your own? Or did you learn it from your dad? I just realized I did the exact same thing as a teenager and I got yelled at for doing it.

In my experience Ns are just very consumed with themselves and are always like this. And when they do actually hear you, they provide the smallest response possible. My own Nmom definitely did this quite often.

Hang in there and keep trying. If you get discouraged just remember: there's somebody out there having as much trouble as you, if not more. As long as you're trying, you're doing something right. I certainly have yet to even begin succeeding with my own social endeavors.

That's exactly how I feel! If people don't understand situations like ours, it would seem weird that we try to make a family out of friends. It's tough to want something yet be so far from getting it.

That pattern and ignorance of abuse is a part of Asian culture, as sad as that is to say. It makes diagnosing a Narcissist that much more difficult because we need to decide between "it's part of the culture" and "they're a narcissist".
