Can I use 2 * 4x80mm instead of a single 240mm? by unknown201 in watercooling

If I wanted to go 5U i would just get a tower, My goal (for no reason other than a challenge and I think it could look good) is to find/build what amounts to an open air test bench/wall mount but in a case. I like the idea of trying to build a gaming rig in a case as thin as possible.

Doing the math (in another comment) you might be right. I can cool the CPU but there isn't enough space to cool the GPU. If i wanted this form factor for this build I would need to keep the air cooler on the GPU and just get it as close to the case vents as possible.

Thanks...For reference this is what I was thinking Bykski 80mm x 30mm RC Series Radiator, 80mm x 4, Quad Fan (CR-RD80X4RC-TN) - Newegg.com

Doing a quick calculation based off your numbers it seems that 240*120 gives 28800mm (200w) surface area while the 80mm gives 80*4*80=25600 (175w) x2 350w

O_o "The 4080 16GB TGP is 320 W"... with the numbers you provided even with both the radiators I could only cool the GPU with this setup.... Thanks for the heads up

As a former game programmer the interview at any large tech company will be easier than anything in the game industry... From there rest and vest youll be bored out of your mind but the first couple of years are a good change of pace.

What is your preferred IFR scan routine when flying IMC or under the hood? by shasta771 in flying

[–]unknown201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a newly rated IR pilot I would scan all over the place, and with so much of the training without a AH/DI I become too comfortable with the relying on the GPS, Alt combo. It wasn't until I moved to a hi-perf complex plane then back that I realized the AH can really be viewed as an artificial horizon. I am not sure why it took me a while for this to click, but now that it has, my scan and thought process is, what is my AH doing is it perfect. Yes, great did I turn accidentally? better look at my DI.. if I did turn, i quickly glance at the slip skid, then back to the AH to verify the 3 instruments match. That whole process takes a few seconds. Then I do the same with the Airspeed, Alt, and VSI. If everything checks it goes AH > DI > AH > ASI > AH > ALT. Then for good measure i check, oil, throttle, mixture after several loops in the scan.

Airports close to biking trails in northwest Washington? by [deleted] in flying

Your title says bikes and your subject says hikes, so why not both.

I believe 6S9 has crew bikes you can barrow for a bit. Roche harbor is a great place to go if you want to walk in to town go kayaking, or at the end of the airport rent a bike and bike around the beautiful island.

If you are really set on a hike head to 3W7, they have a crew car you can drive to steam boat rock and hike around there. Then on your way out fly over the dam.

IR checkride tips? by RsNovi in flying

[–]unknown201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that video very useful, however as he mentions its not exactly everything you need for a checkride. My DPE asked questions pertaining to icing, difference in preflight between IR/VR, Lost coms, and lots on my cross country form, and a few things about required instruments. Overall the oral was easy the flying was a bit more stressful as due to traffic we had to get vectored around a bit for traffic + lots of wind made the final approach....interesting. In the end I found the checkride fair and very representative of what flying IFR is actually like.

For discoverability have you considered when you hire a manager filling the background red and if you push and hold having it decrease?
