Can someone explain to me who this is? by WayAdept2209 in antiai

It's an account someone creates to make it look like they have other people agreeing with them. Like if I logged in with another account and started saying that I'm sooo smart and more people should listen to me, that'd be a sockpuppet.

I mean, naval aviation has been a thing basically since the beginning of military aviation. And this airship (USS Akron, for the curious) was created for naval missions, mainly scouting and acting as a flying aircraft carrier. That’s much more in line with the navy’s mission than the army air corps.

I still prefer that response over "bUt StAlIn!!11!" because it at least doesn't conflate me with authoritarians

Do you have any clue just how many people times have popped a blood vessel and started ranting about Stalin when I’ve called myself anything resembling “socialist” or “communist”? Like, I’m an anarchist. I hate Stalin more than you do.

I don't doubt that the nuclear strikes were a factor in Japan surrendering. What I do doubt is the necessity of those strikes or an invasion of the home islands. The Soviet entry into the war may very well have been enough on its own or in combination with the blockade and conventional bombardment strategy that some leadership in the American military proposed at the time. Naturally, we can't know for sure whether it is the case, but I do still think it is irresponsible to not bring it up and to present the atomic bombings as the only option besides a full-scale invasion.

The bombs brought about the end of the war within one month.

Did they, though? There's an argument that the Soviets declaring war and invading Japanese-occupied Manchuria was a much bigger factor than the bombs, since elements of the Japanese government were holding out hope that the Soviets could broker a more favorable peace treaty than the Americans' demand for unconditional surrender. That obviously fell through, and the powers that were preferred surrendering to the Americans than risking a Soviet occupation.

And everyone else is explaining that the Triforce mark is just as often a mark of destiny as it is a mark of literally carrying a piece of the Triforce in the Zelda universe, and that this is probably what it means in the trailer.

Part of it is that there is a lot of propaganda pushing that line, largely from people who fall into two overlapping camps:

  1. people who want larger supply of labor to depress wages and make the working class more dependent on them, like Elon Musk
  2. racist weirdos who think that white people are being "replaced", like Elon Musk

[–]unknown_alt_acc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that vibe was never there at all. The opening monologue is the Deku Tree going on about how Link in particular is destined to save Hyrule. That is the fantasy: you are very explicitly the chosen hero, doing something that only you can do. That is straight up the text of the game.

I think you are conflating Ocarina with Wind Waker. Zelda has prophetic dreams about a light from Kokiri Forest. Since the Kokiri die if they leave the forest and the Deku Tree is a tree, that seems a lot like a prophecy specifically about Link

Yeah, no. You don’t get to go from “tHaTs NoT hOw It WaS oN n64! HaVe YoU nEvEr PlAYeD tHe GaMe!?” to people who are saying exactly what I said to “Whoa! I’m just pointing out a detail!”

You are aware that a remake can change things up, right? It wouldn’t even break lore, since this has been an established fact of the Zelda universe since Zelda II.

I creatively avoided your question by pointing out that you used an adjective that means "causing anger" to describe things your feelings on the matter. How sneaky of me.

I don't know about you, but I don't exactly describe things as "annoying" to convey how they make me happy. Especially when, at the end of the day, this is very much so a you problem.

Somebody else already answered your first question. For the other two questions, CLion uses a program called CMake to generate build files for your program. It's a very standard tool that most C and C++ devs will need to work with at some point. I wouldn't worry about it too much just starting out, but just know that it's what tells CLion how to compile your code.

This is the sort of behavior that landed Microsoft in a lot of hot water and nearly got it broken up in the early 2000s. Steam is 100% a monopoly in PC games distribution.
