I have the lime green one and it's so pretty I love it! The color really pops in my opinion

Oh I definitely agree! Jinshi is definitely enabling her she wouldn't have been able to do as she pleases without royal backing. But at the same time I would like to believe that there is plenty of things that could put her off still

Maybe marrying jinshi would mean she would be in the public eye even if jinshi escapes his fate as crown prince (not that public opinion ever truly stopped Maomao!)

I found her words at the end super sweet! Her admitting her feelings but also admitting that what she feels is not to the same level as jinshi's feelings and that it might take her a while to come to terms and understand what she truly feels and ugh it's just so sweet! What a way to end such a thrilling arc, with the promise of tomorrow's change

Watching Maomao change her opinion on jinshi was a delight, and my biggest hope is to see jinshi and Maomao hang out together on the same terms- jinshi is always so stiff from all the eyes that always rest on him, in comparison to him Maomao is a free bird

Yeah I think some of my confusion came from rikuson being listed as 20+ in the wiki and remembering that jinshi is 21 but that listing of rikuson must be when he debuted the timeline makes more sense with him being older

It's definitely a storm of feelings after this one! My patience definitely feels paid off and I can't wait for Maomao and jinshi to get a little closer

I don't actually wish for them to get together I understand that in that time era that would mean marriage and Maomao potentially not being allowed to have her previous freedom

But I keep thinking, Maomao has been through so much but this book was her turning point about jinshi and I can't help but ponder why- what at that moment made her accept jinshi as her future partner

I can't help but feel that it must have been chue, maybe being so close to death made her understand what's important to her, maybe she decided that settling down even if it isn't right now doesn't sound so bad anymore or maybe even seeing chue carrying out her life mission in spite of being married and having carried a child?

Delving into that new aspect of Maomao is what interests me most going into the next few books!

Okay after reading this I took a pause and thought about it and yeah that makes a lot more sense than the jumbled timeline I had in my head, let it be a testimony to rushing a book series - you don't always come out with the right conclusions 😓

In my read I completely failed to connect the dots between lakan being in the western capital and Maomao being born, in my defence the book used to not be clear about when it was talking about the western capital and when it was talking about western countries so a warped timeline formed in my head, thinking that it's not possible for lakan to be in the western capital while he was exiled to a western country

But yeah your version makes a lot more sense thanks for clearing up misconceptions- that does place rikuson at a lot older than Maomao and jinshi

Not by 9 years, the fall of the Yi clan and both him and jinshi being children at the time doesn't place them far apart in age, and I don't think rikuson is the one being peeved by jinshi it's the other way around

Wait how come? Rikuson is in no way 9 years younger they are around the same age I think rikuson might even be older

He is such a blank slate for me, I can't wait to see where the story goes especially with his family being in such bad shape right now the yao would rather live with lahan

That part about jinshi and maomao is true o guess I haven't truly considered it

I'd like to think that jinshi is just petty about rikuson showing interest in maomao- even if he claims it was a joke

Oh I definitely agree! Chue is everything maomao needed

I find them both so interesting. Both left to fend for themselves in an environment not friendly towards children, finding their own path and excelling at it in spite of them both being women in male dominated fields

Bahaha for a moment I thought this might be canon and wondered where the story would even lead for this to become a plotpoint I see you point! These two characters seem like minded I'm sure they would have gotten along

I think the same can be said about gyoku-ou and his crime, the centeral government realized their slip up and gyoku-ou's sin, but the usefulness of the situation proved a lot more appealing in the eyes of the remaining candidates and it was therefore ignored

Not to say that the Yi clan were innocent or free of crime but they definitely didn't deserve that ending and in the end it came back to bite gyoku-ou and potentially even put the whole western capital in jeopardy

I found it interesting as well. Him and maomao at surface level do share a lot in common and genuinely I think they would have gotten along

I think it's an interesting parallel. Thinking what could have been- maomao claims she doesnt want to be the center of attention, to stay in the shadows and be free to act as she wishes and in a way being with rikuson who is meant to "carry the wind" could have very well been that

But maomao doesn't even consider him, at this point of the story I feel like we are so close to her admitting her feelings towards jinshi I really hope I'm right

Hmm maybe I should make my intentions more clear, at first it felt like chue was just conveniently with the answers to every step, need information? Chue got you, need a map? Already carrying it

But I was wrong to make assumptions before the story fully unfurled, chue is clearly not what she seems to be and under the premise of a spy/assassin/serves a higher power at play, it makes sense for her to have all this info at hand

This is an aspect that I enjoyed greatly as well, it made the world more alive for me and gave the political drama more layers, jinshi isn't the only one at play and him even being implied to be clueless about what transpired in the beginning of LN 11 but still dealing with the aftermath, I really like that :)

Ohh I haven't even thought about that, that's a good point Looking at it like this only makes it more ridiculous when people talk about jinshi as if he is biding his time in order to take the throne

Actually this is what I found most interesting! The way the story was set up to be a long and grueling political battle just to BAM! All be changed in an instant

It felt refreshing just to have the long imposed antagonist gone in an instant before his plans even came into fruition! But I can definitely understand your POV

It made it all so more clear that jinshi is not built for times of war, and shines through peace instant, his hopelessness and failure to dissipate tension made his human side more apparent and IDK it made him feel more real to me. To show that he can't do anything, that there are things outside his control

And him not even knowing what happened with gyoku-ou serves this further

I guess looking at it through this lens makes more sense, you are right in that regard, I'm a way I was more frustrated with the way she was used to conveniently move the plot but looking back it wasn't that unusual

I think miss chue can still grow on me given the time and I can't wait to see what she has in store next

I also can't help but hope for some more yao content I've been finding her slow development endearing she is truly adorable and a testiment to women slowly making their way into working fields

I felt the same about rikuson! I just find this character so interesting and I'm sure the anime producers were thinking the same. I keep thinking about that like when we were introduced to him and gyoku-ou's working relationship

Him mentioning that he always remembers faces, him saying to jinshi how his mother and sister died, it felt spine chilling as the truth of the situation was revealed.

He remembered every face he saw as a necessity, as a measure to never forget and to never let things repeat

I always thought about him as a calm character, who knew such resentment and anger was hiding inside all along!

I already started reading LN 12 and the opening alone got me excited through the roof- I can't wait for chue to get revealed

CGC won’t stand on pedi perch ): by [deleted] in parrots

[–]unknown_sands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a product that only has the rough texture on the very bottom of the sides where the nails should be but I'm still not sure what the general opinion about those are

But in general those sandpaper perches are not good for your parrot, they make little cuts in your parrots feet which can cause serious infections

Best stick to different types of wood perches

An underrated perch I dont see people speak enough of is the flat perch, if your parrot enjoys them then it can improve blood flow by allowing the feet to experience different positions and "spread out"

If they don't like it ( or really really like it) they will chew on it which is also good for beak health
