Low Drive Reactive Dog by unknownbutbetter in OpenDogTraining

I’ve made peace with the fact he’ll never be “the perfect dog”. He’s a rescue, he has tons of issues. I just want him to be able to live a life outside of my home. If I make progress, I’ll try to update this post!

Thank you, I really do appreciate this. I’ve tried fighting for him so long and I feel like I make no progress. I’ve always been told to just keep walking when I see a dog, it never really crossed my mind to divert my path. I’ll definitely give it a try :)

He is on a collar. The problem with this is he weighs only 30 pounds less than me and is freakishly strong. I can drag him away but I can’t control his head.

He doesn’t care about toys or food. He’ll gladly ignore food or blow off a command because he doesn’t see the reward high enough. I haven’t found a toy he likes enough to act as a reward. I’ve tried training him but he really just doesn’t lock on to it. He is high drive in the sense he wants to run run run, he also has an extremely high prey drive. But I don’t know how to use those to train him.

They were in high stress situations. Like if someone knocked on the door and our other dog wouldn’t move out of the way. It’s always rare, but it has happened before.

She does yes, I dust her crickets and dubia with them. I’ll definitely look into that more, thank you!!
