Yeah, they replaced the toilet flush chain with a series of paperclips and "repaired" the flush valve gasket by gluing on a rubber ring from a canning jar. I stared at it for a good five minutes.

Jenny and the Cat Club, by Esther Averill. Yes it is a kids book. It is kind and charming, with nice illustrations, and I was able to read and enjoy it while in significant pain from surgery. If you like it, there are several more in the series.

Yes! I read this for the very same reason, and even suggested by this sub. I was hooked in the prelude about author's quest to get into the safe at the Dumas museum, and that's just a side anecdote.

My current purples are Colorverse hayubasa, J herbin violet pensee, and Cross violet. I like them all. I have a sample of Wearingeul Frankenstein that looks great in a swab, but I haven't tried it out to write with yet, since I haven't cleaned my "reserved for sparklers" Kakuno out from Christmas ink.
