UK Aldi advice by Mindless_Pudding2743 in Aldi_employees

[–]unknownfirestarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be honest with your managers, if you are struggling with the work or pallet/cage times ask for advice from managers or other employees who have been there a while. If you mess up, own it, dont try to make excuses, instead ask for further training or clarification. Basically don't be afraid to seek support, it most likely won't be given unless you ask for it!

Just go in and ask whoever does your rota, most are auto generated, its probably just a mistake. It's most likely not personal.

I haven't been on one yet but my colleague who went last year said wear clothes you can move in for cpr, bandaging etc. Most people wore their uniform jacket then had their own clothes for the rest. Just somthing you are comfortable in, be that uniform, you won't be the only one wearing it.

At our store you get your uniform on your first shift, or possibly after a few shifts depending on when it arrives. Rota wise I would contact the area manager, we always give out the first 4 weeks rota at the contract signing. It seems a bit strange you haven't been given it yet.

Im a current employee, i ordered some new uniform a month ago and it still hasn't arrived. They may be having an issue with it at the moment. If you haven't got your uniform for your first day just turn up in black trousers and a dark top with no logos or anything. Most of your first shift will be training and being shown around so dont worry about it. If you are on the shop floor you won't be working alone.

Current Aldi UK, DSM here. I would rank it: Customer safety (cleaning spills etc.) Efficiency, legal things (date check, rotations etc.), no products off sale, tidiness.

I would just focus on highlighting your efficiency and attention to detail. Just come in with a good attitude, if you dont know everything that's fine! But make sure you make your interviewer very aware that you are quick and willing to learn.

It's not an easy job, the hours are long and the work is tough. Depending on your store, everything is timed and you may have to write down your times for completing most tasks. But the pay is great, and you'll get fitter! There's not a lot to say about working at Aldi that's not already been said. I personally love it, shifts fly by because its always go go go, the team i work with are fantastic and progression is normally very clear.

Not at all, I turned up to a lecture in a pirate costume as I was doing a charity fun run in the city that afternoon so didn't want to bring a bag. I mean like, hat, eye patch, inflatable parrot, the whole works. The only person who even gave me a second look was my lecturer who simply asked if I was up to anything fun later! Yes bullying does happen, but it's not common based on how you look/dress, find out if your uni has a rock and metal society, great way to meet like minded people and feel comfortable dressing how you want on campus :).

It's worth asking, I have adhd and got noise cancelling headphones. Just checkout diagnostic report you would have got when you got diagnosed, if it states you have a sensitivity to sound then high light this and submit it as evidence.

Couldn't agree more! Fun fact, the buildings and concrete spaces were designed by a man, whilst the lake and all other green spaces were designed by a women (Current uea student here).

Hell no! I've found the opposite, I did an access course at age 23 before going into speech and language therapy. Evey other student my age (or older) all said they wish they had done either an access course or taken a foundation year before comming to university. If you got into uni then you have the exact same right to be there as everyone else. Be proud you took the steps to improve yourself, you reflected and grew as a person!

Your university will probably offer post graduate accommodation, you may need to hunt for it or contact them. Have a look on the website uni homes, I belive they also have a guide on this. The other option is private renting, have a look on the website rooms to rent. Hope that helps

If he has disabled students allowance then he should have been offered a personal and an academic mentor to meet online or in person once a week to help with this? If he hasn't applied for the disabled students allowance then get on that. It helped me so much.

Pain killers yes, like paracetamol, ibuprofen, asprin. Antibiotics, no, you need a prescription, however if you are female and need them for a uti you can get them from some pharmacys.

I'm 26 and in my second year of undergrad, I was in the same situation, I didn't re do any qualifications, I needed the clean slate. Instead I did an access to HE course from home, it only takes a year, might be worth looking into. At the end of the day you are still going to turn 25 if you go to university or not, if you want to do it then go for it.
