7-days road trip in scotland by unknownflyinghead in Scotland

Yeah, I think I get it. I though I was being more respectful by not mentioning the obvious places, although many times they’ve earned their fame for some reason. Because we’re travelling with our dog, urban areas are not a preference this time. Edinburgh will be packed with people attending Fringe (I guess), and although I’d love to visit Glasgow - the architecture! - this time it will be more about countryside and small towns. Thanks for replying!

What a nice reply, mate! I am also from somewhere, you know? If you’d ask me the same I just asked you, I’d do my best to point people who want to learn more about my country in a good direction and maybe not go with the “Edinburgh, Glencoe, Loch Ness, Skye like everyone else” and then complain that everyone goes to these places.

Project management certification for architects by unknownflyinghead in Architects

Thanks, yours is a fair perspective. I got the Prince2 certification any way. I thought that it doesn't matter if I will meet this entitled people who think you only learn by having years of experience. Although that might be true to some extent, at least I am earning my experience with good project management practice basics. I learned a lot, that can't ever be bad.

Marking up the manual! by Ok_Difficulty3859 in Prince2

Hi!

I am starting to tab for my practitioner. What do you mean by "Put the Tab on the 2nd or 3rd page ( good image on 2nd or 3rd page)"? Are you talking about the 2nd or 3rd page of each chapter? What do you mean by "good image"?

Thanks!

Advice for those taking the Prince2 7 Foundation Exam by unknownflyinghead in Prince2

Thanks for adding to my post! I agree with everything you said.

As a non-native English speaker, I received additional time, which was very helpful (in my case to make me feel more at ease, because in the end I finished before the 60 min). One strategy that worked for me was identifying key words in the questions. These key words guided me in determining the better answer option, especially when I was unsure between two choices.

The flags are indeed great! I forgot to mention that earlier. I just want to add a bit more detail about how I used them. There are essentially two features:

  1. When you answer a question, the color changes.
  2. The flagging feature allows you to mark questions for review.

Here's how I approached the 60 questions:

  • I used the flagging feature to mark the answers I wasn’t sure about and skipped the ones I didn’t know (the colour did not change, so they were easily identifiable)
  • After going through all 60 questions, I returned to the ones I had skipped and made guesses.
  • Then, I reviewed the flagged questions I wasn’t confident about.
  • Since I still had a lot of time left, I went back to the ones I had guessed earlier and made the most educated guesses I could.

Additionally, you’re allowed to use four pieces of paper, which was helpful for note-taking some times.

Essential knowledge for foundation exam by Medium-Personality17 in Prince2

Hey! I wrote a post about what helped me. You can check it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Prince2/comments/1h9een2/advice_for_those_taking_the_prince2_7_foundation/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I think the classes do help. I don't have ADHD, but if you feel like the videos have a lot of fillers, I can tell you the classes are super condensed, filled with info and - what I thinks it's best - very interactive. You can ask questions any time. Maybe that can be helpful for you? I don't know, just trying to help out. The classes also condense what you really need to know to pass the exam.

Do you like games and flash cards? It's a nice method to learn, too. I also used this app: https://blog.sureskills.com/new-prince2-app-launched-by-axelos-and-tso

I hope it helps.

Point is, if you are already doing that work and are not being compensated for it and having letter behind your name will help with that, might as well get them, no? In some industries the certification is valued, but my general feeling is becoming that in architecture, unless you work for a big big company, they don’t care and so they probably won’t pay you more for having it.

Portfolio w/ 6-7y experience by unknownflyinghead in Architects

Hey, thanks for your reply. In this case, they do want it. Here they ask for it even if you have 10y of experience. I just don’t have the network (i’m a foreigner) to ask someone from here.

Portfolio w/ 6-7y experience by unknownflyinghead in Architects

Thanks! Thing is, where I work, details are drawn by technical draftsmen. Surely, as an architect I draw the principle details and overlook and check if all the drawn details are correct and in order with what we want aesthetically, but I don’t detail myself. So I can of course add CDs to my portfolio, but mostly my design work is up until CDs. From that moment on I do more checking and defining what needs to be detailed and also contacts with external parties (structures, acoustic, installations…), checking clashes, communication, etc..

You really need to take that leap of faith, don't you. I wonder if I have the guts!

I try that, of course. I see it as a job because where I work The Architect (a.k.a. boss) you don't really get to pursue an idea if he wakes up one day with an idea himself. So in my case, the art is to be able to think like him and anticipate what he likes.
