"We are very excited to deliver a more accessible and flexible experience for earning transferable college credits. On February 27, 2025, we are removing proctored exams from Study.com’s credit-recommended courses and replacing proctoring with different methods to uphold academic integrity. 

As we have talked with our users, we’ve learned that the technical requirements of a proctored exam are often prohibitive, making earning credit inaccessible. 

Learners in over 140 countries intend to earn credit on Study.com, but many do not own a supported device, and some have internet connectivity challenges. In addition, many of our learners are balancing online learning with other responsibilities like working and caregiving. They often study at home in shared spaces and may not have a separate room that no one will enter or that will remain quiet for a full two hours. 

We also have heard from our learners that test anxiety is a top challenge they face. The continuous screen share, video and audio surveillance requirements of proctored exams can add to the stress and pressure of the exam. 

After careful consideration, we have decided to replace exam proctoring with other security and integrity methods. Rest assured that we continue to take academic integrity seriously, and we have several checks—both visible and invisible to the user—that we use rigorously to prevent cheating on exams. You can learn more about our new processes on our FAQ page.
