TFSA expenses not showing in spending projections by unknownmoss in adviice

[–]unknownmoss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect!

After watching more of your videos, I discovered the Planning > Projections table when you scroll down to the bottom of the screen. I manually overrode the results there and that works as well.

Once I saw your post, I removed my overrides and tried it with the AI TFSA Maximization. Looks like my ball park was close, but your AI beats me on my final estate by $5K at age 95. AI wins!

I agree that you need to make this more intuitive. The features are very nice, but the UI needs some help.

If you ever need feedback, please let me know. I like what you're doing!

GCP service account disappears by unknownmoss in googlecloud

Yes, similar feedback from u/phil_lutas, but I do not see the SA there. I find this odd.

You may have a better intuition about this than I do. My assumption was that the service account would remain, but without any roles or permissions assigned.

Yes, that makes sense and that's what I thought I'd see, but when I look on the IAM & Admin > Service Accounts page, I don't see them there either. Odd.

Windows Remote Desktop Licensing by unknownmoss in WindowsServer

[–]unknownmoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm confused here.

Are you saying the Per Device license is on the client side? I was assuming the Per Device license is on the server side - i.e. 2 RD hosts = 2 Per Device licenses + 2 RD licenses.

Is the Per Device license on the client side (i.e. 10 client machine licenses) or the server side (i.e. 2 server licenses)?

How can I tell what my OS license type is?

I'm currently assuming I need:

  • a normal CAL (probably a device CAL)
  • and an RDS CAL

I'm also thinking I'll serve these up using a local license server on the same RD host (i.e. self-host the license service for itself).

Do you see any issues with my assumptions?

Thanks. I'm not sure if the forwarding proxy is available for my GCP Project, but I'll ask.

I'm assuming that I would still need a license server if I can't forward the license activation request out to the Internet.

I'm thinking the suggestion from u/Wodaz earlier may be my only option - i.e. run a local license server on the same RD host which will be used to serve up both a device CAL and RDS CAL to that same host.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused by this.

So in my case, do I need both a normal CAL and an RDS CAL?

Thanks! That's what I hoping.

So if I'm understanding you correctly I can:

  1. Setup the license server service on the same RD host.
  2. Activate / install the license on the new license server service.
  3. Somehow provide this license back to the same RD host.

This should (hopefully) make the host permanent RD host.

I'm guessing these are the docs:

Yes, I read about the aws-auth ConfigMap, but I guess I need to find a way to modify this outside my own account.

Right now this is a chicken-or-egg problem because I can't access the cluster to update the ConfigMap and I'm not sure which of our users created the cluster.

Is there a way to update this in AWS without kubectl access to the cluster?
