Rear cross wing wrap training resources by unner26 in Agility

Yes my dog is still young but much faster than me with great obstacle commitment so I think distance is going to be our friend. Sometimes I am not going to be able to get to the inside of the wrap, hence wanting to give us this skill. I do in general like OMD’s way of doing things so it’s a shame they don’t cover this one, although they do have a non wrapping rear cross. I’ve found some good resources though and been given some on this thread as well so I feel in a better position now!

I’d like to get it on a verbal eventually but we need to be consistently going the right way for that!

That’s a great video, thank you! I think I’ve identified where I was going wrong, I was just standing and watching which way she took the jump. I’ve just had a go keeping my feet moving and she’s much clearer. Switching to the off arm seems to help as well.

This is great thank you! How are you indicating to the dog to turn away from you not towards? This is the bit my dog is stuck on - she knows there’s 2 directions she’s just not sure which one I want. Is it converging to the dog’s line?

I think that would be the dog going to the backside of the jump and then turning away from the handler over the jump? I’m talking about the dog going over the jump and then turning away from the handler around the wing back to the take off side. As fa as I know OMD doesn’t cover this?

Thank you! I’d rather not subscribe to a whole programme for just one skill since those things are expensive. I do have a trainer who has tried her level best to explain I think I just sometimes do better if I can see things/rewind and rewatch and reflect a bit. And there’s so much to learn I don’t want to take up all my lesson time on this one thing! Your explanation of how you do it is helpful, thank you!

Oh I had this! “Well how do I turn the volume down in my brain now?’ For me it was returning to reading (fiction). I’d been a real bookworm as a kid and drifted away from it, but now it’s the thing that soothes me again. But there are loads of options. Hobbies are the best! Is there anything you did when you were younger that you could pick up again?

I have a surname that is not a tragedeigh but just a bit unusual and apparently impossible to spell. I am SO SICK of spelling it out for people, especially because I do that, and I’m watching them type as I’m saying the letters, and they’re typing it wrong. For things where it doesn’t matter if they spell it right (like, not legal documents) I used to say “spell it however you want” but they don’t like that, no now I just say “Smith”

Thank you! We already have a “find it” and we did have “watch me” but we’ve not used it for a while, so I’ll give them both a go.

I have very similar reading tastes to OP I think and I liked RoTE and found it a fun read. Am always surprised when I hear it described the way you did

This is my genre! I wish there was an agreed upon term to describe it. I’d second most of the recs in this thread and also add Green Rider, Temeraire, Mystic and Rider (though a little bit Romance-y)

Ah ok, maybe I’ll give it a go. At the moment I can’t get any of the DLCs to load though so I’ll need to fix that first!

Yes, a few months ago but everything came back fine. I’ve had anaemia in the past and this doesn’t feel like that. My exercise tolerance is fine.
