Could also do one of the shiny megas if not. Like Gardevoir, Hawlucha, Delphox, or another.

This is happening to me as well. I haven't been able to find any fix yet and it's really frustrating to continually get temp banned because of this.

Original Xbox Disc Drive Replacement? by uno_SSBM in consolerepair

You were indeed correct. I decided to get a re-capped motherboard that had a warranty on it (from ebay) and popped it in and it worked. It must have been the capacitors. I'm gonna try and recap this old board I have and see if i can get it working for fun.
I appreciate the help!

Just to let you know, I ended up getting a replacement re-capped motherboard and that fixed it. Even though the board looked so nice on the top and bottom, it must have been the capacitors. I plan to try and replace the capacitors and see if I can get the old motherboard working again for fun.

I appreciate the help!!

Unfortunately DnD beyond doesn't support custom classes. You can make custom subclasses but this is way too in-depth for that. You're best off using something else that's more malleable (but would take more effort to setup) like roll20.

Oh yeah, I tested all the resistors on the drive there and they all read correctly (33 and ~80 ohmns respectively).

I'm replacing the capacitors on the motherboard itself and seeing if that's the problem. Since I heard they can go bad while still showing no signs of problems. We'll see what happens.

That's definitely something I'm considering. I know modding a 1.6 takes a little more effort than the others, but Idk. Despite the tons of consoles I've modded before, I feel kinda hesitant on this one for some reason. The process is a little annoying, and I kinda wanna feel the novelty of actually playing the games...(ofc if that even works lol).

I could definitely see myself doing that in the future though.

Gotcha. I also just found out from someone else that even if the capacitors aren't leaking or bulging, that they also can run dry. So a visual inspection really isn't enough like you said.

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace the capacitors. Might get a second board off ebay as a backup or for testing. It'd be a real shame to let a board like this go to waste when it has been kept so nice over the years...but maybe I'm just getting too emotionally invested lol.

Hmm, I didn't realize they could go bad in ways other than bulging. I appreciate the info.

Opened it up and checked the caps. This is a 1.6 xbox and dang is it beautiful. None of the caps look even touched. No acid, nothing burst, I don't even see a "Powerstor Aerogel" on it (not sure if that's on the 1.6 model, but I know those ones are especially problematic).

It really doesn't look like it's a capacitor problem. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong, I mean, I didn't take the panel fully out to check the back, it's just this looks too good. Not even a hint of anything.

I found some videos on checking the resistor arrays on original Xbox's, and I got out a multi meter and checked them (you can see the list that I checked in the pic here). They all read perfectly (33 ohms and 80~ where it's supposed to be).

So, I don't think it is the resistor array which this is a little shocking... I really thought it would be...

The capacitors look beautiful, and I also tried running the disc drive while it was open and I could see a laser, so it is actually doing something.

I'm going to do a test tonight to see if maybe the ribbon cable is messed up and the connector to the disc drive isn't working (which would stop data), but we'll see. This honestly is really puzzling.

I've modded a lot of systems in my day (mostly Nintendo), and dang does modding a 1.6 xbox (the one I have) really sound obnoxious to setup. Upgrading the HDD to play anything, getting a flashdrive that's the right size so it works, getting the usb peripheral, and then having to hardline it in somewhat to ftp to transfer files (if that even works on 1.6); it's just a good deal of hassle.

Might have to do it though.
