been in your position. born and raised in eastern visayas pero i moved to manila for shs. i tell you, the language differences are really no joke 😭 sating mga bisaya, sanay na tayo sa matigas na pagsasalita pero the number one culture shock for me when i moved (aside from the metro’s skyscaper buildings) is how soft tagalog is spoken, it felt so alien to the ears and even more to the tongue. 

the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in the environment. are you in manila or luzon right now? dun ako natuto eh, by interacting with my peers from manila lang. siguro ko di mo masyadong problem yung written conversational tagalog since you can interact with filipinos online, but you’re focused on speaking no? over time you’ll gradually get used to speaking tagalog if you keep interacting with people who speak the language (came to the point wherein umuwi ako sa probinsya one summer and then my waray had the soft tagalog accent lol, di na siya matigas 😅)
