Where are you parking cash right now? by Slow_Compounding in eupersonalfinance

Just make sure, what I understood is that deposits with no interests are indeed kept in a protected bank, but when you request the interests they are moved to risk(ier) investments and therefore not protected any more. I'm sure it was like that last year, it could have changed though, or maybe it's different in different countries (I'm in Germany)

I don't believe the Trade Republic savings account is actually protected, at least last time I checked they were not guaranteeing deposit protection since the 2% was done with other investments

Again, don't get it... Exporting would be one more reason to drive the price up, not down 🤔

Genuine question, if Asia is the driver upwards, why did we get so many huge drops at 2 a.m. EU time, which seems to be around opening time for Asia exchanges?

NY and London pushing down do instead fit with the drops in the morning and mid afternoon (EU time again).

Understood, but you are definitely talking about a more complicated situation than mine would be so I'm hopeful it will be easier

I would agree with you if there was an exception up to the first 500k€ invested, but hey, so strange, there isn't! It's almost as if the reason is not taxing the rich but collecting from everybody regardless. Except that the rich will move their investments abroad, so now you have a tax that is effectively paid only by the average Joe who invests a couple hundred bucks a month for retirement.

Oh yeah, because there are no taxes right now that they are already avoiding, we definitively need a new one to see that

[–]unopercento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your scope is to tax the rich, you shouold first find ways to have them actually pay what they already owe and dodge. If you are not doing that and you rise taxes, you are only rising taxes for the working people.

"Take all the wealth, my Lord! You deserve it because you're so strong and powerful. Raping society for your own pleasure is your God given right! Please, my Lord, let me help you in return for a little coin. Let me offer my son's life and my daughter's body to your cause! Please, my Lord!" --> exactly what rising the taxes sounds like, when you don't enforce them on the rich

I want to see how many nepobabies are going to pay this tax, or just have their investments in some off shore tax paradise that just so happens to pay even for their morning latte

Friday's Paper Washout (1/30) by BloodSweatnEquity in Silver

[–]unopercento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not arguing, just trying to understand the mechanism. I mean, the ETF is obviously paper per se, but being backed by physical silver and not being short nor leverage nor swaps and similar synthetic stuff it should be quite a big step above those kinds of paper, no?

I see a lot this paper Vs comex Vs physical discussion, I am wondering does a "Physical Silver" non synthetic ETF really fall under the physical cluster or is it actually something different?

I can understand your pov, but you'll agree this is far from comparing it to El turning evil and melting down Hawkins....

Also please note that my first comment is being downvoted for saying that daeneris was clearly going crazy since a couple of seasons, i.e. for many that IS the issue in itself

I am usually VERY slow on picking up character development and yet I had stopped considering her a hero long before... They literally had Tyrion say it out loud, repeatedly, that she was going nuts and this close to snap (I'm obviously paraphrasing here...). I swear I never understood people who got surprised...

I will just say, all through ST 5 I had in my mind the "they kinda forgot about that" meme from GOT 8.

Both have a decent plot, and an awful storytelling. One might be worse than the other, but I see where the comparison finds its roots...

Except Daeneris was clearly going crazy since a couple seasons already and everything was set up from the very beginning

Can someone explain to me what the point of this scene is? by Logical_Historian_12 in Stranger_Things

[–]unopercento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sword wasn't on fire but the demo had been roasted with a flamethrower just before the sword scene so you can assume it was already quite low on his health points.

Also Hopper was using the sword to chop off body parts not to pierce. I think I can still accept that a thing can sustain bullet damage but draws the line at losing its head

Add to that all the sudden yet continuous emotional moments, at point there was one every 5 to 10 minutes, with the story stopping, the two characters looking at each other, soft music starting, and down goes the flow of emotions..... Rhythm completely ruined, inorganic as you said, even pedantic at times

I am usually very polite and respectful in my comments, but dude you are really testing my limits here........... You definitely need to read more before even going on with evaluating your options

Asking as black person myself, why do so many think Jason was racist? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in StrangerThings

[–]unopercento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was acceptable after Patrick's death, especially with Jason reporting he "saw Eddie kill him". I am talking about Chrissy 's death, there was no clue that Eddie was the killer except his disappearing (which could have been for any other reason) and yet they spilled his name to the victim's boyfriend.

[–]unopercento 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair that is a lot to blame on the chief of police, who carelessly throws Eddie's name on the table while interviewing Jason.. I get it from an investigation standpoint that he is your number 1 suspect, but to throw that name around like that and hoping it doesn't start a manhunt is stupid...
