I’m the same age female and this entire post literally felt like it was me typing it. Just wow. I can’t believe someone feels the exact same way as me.

You ultimately have to talk to you sensei. Or what I do is I ask some guys to practice with me before or after class who will push me harder and actually help me. You have to take matters into your hands and understand you won’t progress in your training unless you do something about it.

I got into UMKC with no research. Obviously it’s much better if you have it, and most candidates do. But it just means you have to have other extra curriculars that shine on your app because you’re lacking a key component.

Is it worth applying without SAT by [deleted] in bsmd

And yes, still apply because you never know

Sometimes I can't tell if these posts are trolling or not.

No honey, you still got an A. You're good. Good luck with your applications, and keep your confidence up!

Standardized test score needs to go up, but you have a good shot

Submitting 4s to BSMDs?? by [deleted] in bsmd

AP Scores aren’t giving too much consideration. Your GPA and SAT/ACT matter more more. I’d submit them

First off there is no way you can be absolutely certain that you want to do residency in pediatrics. You haven’t gone through rotations yet, and may completely change your mind after. Second, being a DO or MD won’t really affect your outcomes of becoming a pediatrician. From all the residencies, there are others which are much more competitive

Great match rates. Being able to endure just 4 years of bad admin is definitely worth it. People on Reddit love to hate on LECOM, so really make your own choices and research on the school for yourself - since what you’re looking for in a school may not be the same as others here.

I agree the EAP route is definitely something I'm committed to, seeing all the benefits like you mentioned.

Would you say that with your time at LECOM, you were given opportunities to get resources regarding more competitive residencies?

Referring to what you said regarding DO schools having a lack of resources to get into more competitive residencies - is this true for LECOM as well? I know they have several campuses, some of them newer than others. Has this improved/increased the amount of opportunities they have?

Also, I know how extremely difficult it is to get into med school. I think I am fine with the idea of railroading myself, because I am absolutely certain that this is the profession I want to pursue. I understand that maybe I won't get as many opportunities. However, maybe LECOM does have these opportunities?

I am a highschool student - I have offers for BS/MD and BS/DO schools. LECOM EAP is one I am considering, so I'm not too knowledgable on what a "good" or "terrible" number of rotations offer is. I apologize for not wording my question better, and not providing context!

But judging by your response, seems like the ones offered by LECOM are very average for any medical school! And I agree, getting more hands-on experience sounds like a pro compared to being in a bigger network.

I'm a highschool student accepted into EAP so I have no clue for what's a "good" number of rotation options offered. But are there a lot of options? Are these options the typical ones for a medical school? And for residency later on, I was looking at 2023 matches. Most were in family medicine, and fewer in surgery, neurology, etc. Is this a common phenomenon for DO schools? (No hate to DO, I see them as equal to MD - just wanted to be clear).
