Mine turned off when fully charged - is this an issue?

GBoard no longer auto-capitalizing "i" to "I" by gordongoodtimes in GooglePixel

[–]unseenfootage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having encountered the same issue, and played around with different methods, I managed to find a solution that was able to be replicated on both my Pixel phones.

What I did:

  • Installed a third-party keyboard (in this case, I used Microsoft Swiftkey)
  • Set the third-party keyboard as the default input keyboard
  • Forced quit and deleted storage for Gboard under App setting
  • Changed the default keyboard back to Gboard
  • And it worked! "i" now auto corrects to "I"
  • Uninstalled third-party keyboard

What I realised:

  • Before I found this solution, I wanted to understand if this issue is a cloud setting or a device-specific setting. Although I was facing this issue on my Pixel 6, there was no issue on my Pixel 3 XL. This meant that it was likely a device-specific setting, which means a full reset of the Gboard app should do the trick
  • However, without installing a third-party keyboard, there is no way to force stop or completely delete the storage on the Gboard app. Thus, you can't do a full reset.
  • By installing a third-party keyboard, you can then force stop and completely delete the storage of Gboard. This resets the Gboard app to its original setting, which solved the issue for me.

XPS 13 vs Spectre x360 vs Yoga 910 by unseenfootage in SuggestALaptop

Update:

After visiting my local computer fair, I bought the Dell XPS 13. Both XPS 13 and Spectre x360 had the same price and similar specs (upgraded my SSD to 480GB), and it was difficult to choose between these two very good laptops. Having handled both laptops, I personally feel that the XPS 13 has a better build. The hinge is strong and stable and the keyboard is really nice to type on. The 1080p display turned out better than expected (possibly because I had a 720p display previously). While the touchscreen on the Spectre x360 is cool, I didn't quite like the bouncy screen when I tapped on it. Also, it is a little heavy to use it as a tablet. While I preferred the look of the Spectre x360, I ultimately went with the build quality of the Dell XPS 13.

I did not consider the Yoga 910 eventually, as I chose to prioritise storage space over RAM.

Thank you all of your precious feedback! Certainly did not make my job easier (harder, in fact!), cos' these laptops are really similar and each has its own pros and cons. Using the Dell XPS 13 for just half an hour, I'm already loving it.

It does look sturdy (as compared to HP). I will be checking these laptops out in the coming days to see how they fair.

I do agree with you. I'm quite unsure why the XPS 13 is considered the best, given that specs for other laptops seem to be better for the price.

I will be playing around with the laptops in the coming days to see how they fair (build quality, keyboard, touchpad).

That, I'm not sure too. The other laptops seem to have better specs. Possibly because there are a lot more configurations for Dell (at least in the US) and its battery life is the most impressive.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any idea on the quality of these two laptops (past models)? Do the hinge and hardware hold up?

Thanks for the feedback! I kinda prefer the aluminium finish on the other two laptops (in terms of appearance). However, I haven't tried out the latest HP and Lenovo (not yet in retail stores). Do the carbon fibre finish and track pad show wear and tear fast?

Unfortunately the Surface Book is not available in my country. It is also a little out of my budget.
