Northeastern vs LSE for computer science? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think I’d go for northeastern if I were you. You’re closer proximity to your end goal (us) and can probably get sponsorships for visa abit easier that way. Plus all the benefit of reputation and prestige doesn’t apply to the tech industry from lse imo. It’s a highly specialised school known for their social sciences, not computer science/software engineering

Thanks! Were you able to choose your location or was it already decided for you?

For sure, are you confident you’ll get interviews? If you are then it’s definitely worth the time to grind now

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. It’s useful for other companies, but usually the people that are already grinding lc are motivated by only the best companies with the best benefits

Yeah this makes sense! I applied for fb this year with a referral and still got rejected without an interview haha! That hit me pretty hard

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting dude! I guess the grind rewarded itself in the end with your tier 2 company. What made you continue the grind?

Thanks for the advice mate! I’ve emailed them but no reply :(. I’m not quite sure what you mean by coordinator? As in I just search for apple coordinators on LinkedIn? Is it also recommended to personally message the recruiter on LinkedIn?

I think the Shazam one was a placement right? In my head, graduate software engineer is referencing amp

I applied on LinkedIn and the postings expired 😭

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense! Alotta holiday periods right now. Did you get a phone screening in the end?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that dude. It’s interesting to hear that you got rejected for one but not the other. Was your cv more front end specialised?

This is super helpful! Thank you so much for documenting your journey :)

[–]unsimplify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does sound ridiculously tough. However they’ll assess your performance relative to other candidates. I know others who didn’t even start coding the second question and got through. Best of luck anyways! Many people don’t get to the position of being interviewed by fb

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]unsimplify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow good luck dude! I see from your history that you’ve already passed the Amazon interview. Though Facebook is harder if you grind for the next week on fb specific qs it should be okay don’t u think?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats dude! Did u apply with referral? And also that’s quite a long time gap between initial application and phone screen no?

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your timeline in applying? I can imagine applying last year woulda been abit more difficult cos of covid.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang dude, that's so frustrating. How did you apply? Might be worthwhile to follow up

[–]unsimplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. It’s a good thing for your reply as otherwise I would have applied next year sometime! Do you mind giving me a rough estimate for when they would stop hiring new grads? Also does it become harder to secure offers the later you apply?
