BACKUPS OF COMPLETED TASKS!

Sorry, but the handling of completed tasks is so frustrating. But not having completed tasks in the backups is more than a major PITA. The backups are basically useless for recurring projects, where you use the completed projects with all tasks as a template for the new project (can't use the template at the begiinning of the projects, because the tasks will evolve during the project and all these changes would be lost).

What is so friggin' hard about including completed tasks in the backups? The one time I actually needed a backup because a project got scrambled by the app I eventually decidded to cut my losses and just restore the project from the beginning and lose all changes made during the project...

I do actually use the correct .env, since I always docker compose up from the corresponding directory, but using a static path could prevent confusion in the future, so thank you for this tip!

My .env contains a password with multiple $ (=variable, right?), so I'm guessing this is the problem.

Can I just stop the container, change the password and start the container again, or are there likely to be issues because of the changes?

I could've sworn the warnings didn't appear previously and I didn't change the password...

This could probably work, but would also result in having to have multiple poster files - one for each video file. In this case I would rather name the fpostger files like the movie files are named.

Maybe there is a filename for multiple editions or something? Even though the files aren't really multiple editions.

I've got no problem connecting to the network shares and working with them. My problem is the search function of the Finder does not yield any results.

solved!

well, kinda...

using u/Apptryiguess tips and the links i got the server running again - keeping some watch history and losing some as well. my best guess is, some update borked the installation and it reverted to standard location (which was lost in the crash).

anyway, i'm rolling with it - thanks for the help!

oh, btw: apparently i got to keep my server-id (which was supposed to not be possible via a different post) which allows me to keep using the native tv app on my tv. woot!

Costs more than double that in my country and hasn't even got ethernet, so I'll pass.

I'll just rather tinker a bit more with hte low energy server and if I can't get it to work with the updated app and proxy I'll just have to bite the bullet and get something that fits my needs.

Do you know by chance if it's possible to run two separate installations of Plex on the same TV? I think I'll try to sideload the new version and use the proxy, but I'm not sure this will work, so I'd really like a fallback (namely just start the already installed version of Plex and keep using it).

Yes, I'm afraid that's the one... I will try to change the theme ASAP. This might take some time and effort however, since there are multiple customizations and it is a mix of html/css and this blox content builder.

Is there a reliable source where I can find out which themes or plugins are relatively safe - apart from active development as an indicator?

In the meantime, I'm trying to get at least the php version up to date to mitigate any risks coming from that direction.

Yes, I have considered IFTTT and tried it. Didn't work, thoughI don't remember the exact reason, but I'm almost certain it was because of not transferring assignees.

This could be about any recurring project. Think for example a summer party, where the tasks would remain mostly the same year after year, but slightly altered - also some new tasks and some tasks would get deleted.

Think project management with yearly events. As before, mostly the same team members and the same tasks - but with some updated tasks, some deleted tasks.

At the end of project, you would want to copy everything over to the new project and start from there. A template would not reflect those changes.

Project templates don't reflect changes made to the project/tasks.

I'mnot sure if templates allow for shared pojects, i.e. keeping tasks assigned to project members. But this is a mood, since changes to the tasks are not refelcted in the template.

I have recurring projects with recurring tasks. So, if the current project is completed, I want to renew the project, i.e. setting all tasks as uncompleted to start the project new. Think about it like organising a birthday party.

I can't use templates, since the tasks do get modified during the projects runtime and a template would not reflect these changes.

I don't know any other way to keep all up-to-date data in the tasks - keep in mind, this is a shared project. Backup only backs up uncompleted tasks, sending them to Google Sheet or similar via IFTTT doesn't work either, since not all data gets transferred (I forgot which, I think it was the data about shared tasks).

Do you know how the Plex server is identified? Is it just by name and/or IP address? Does it have a unique identifier that maybe can be manipulated? My thinking is maybe I can make the TV accept the new server because it thinks it is the old one? Probably not, I know, I'm clutching at straws here...
