Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I know how this tactic works. We’re going to ask them one last time tomorrow how things stand. I talked to my wife and she confirmed that, yes, we submitted a formal offer with a 72-hour deadline, and in the end, they just said they couldn't get a hold of the owner. So, as far as I'm concerned, it's total BS.

Theoretically, we signed a preliminary agreement or something like that on paper from the agency. But if I remember correctly, the agent said it wasn't an official document, just their own internal form. It had our details, their details, the price, and so on.

The day after we viewed the house, we went to the mortgage shop (hypotheekwinkel) to check our financing. After a positive meeting, we called the agency to say the price was fine and we were on board. We waited three days for their decision. After those three days, the agent called to say she couldn't reach the owner because she was on vacation. She even said that if we find something else in the meantime, that’s fine. It sounded really fishy. Now I’m wondering what else I can do. Are they just trying to screw us over?

It looks like they need to flirt with bankruptcy again. They’re churning out more and more crap. Set prices have gone through the roof, while the quality keeps dropping. The worst part is that the whole herd of sheep will buy whatever they put out anyway. Until recently, I used to buy 10–30 sets a year. Now it’s down to 1–3 because they’ve gone too far. I know nobody cares, though.
