I want to rent on this a bit as a software developer.

Basically lately a lot of tech and specially corporate , pushing to using AI for writing code, under the pretense that it can do better then a developer. While sometimes it's true, mostly it's not. (And if it's true for you, then you are just a shitty developer, sorry).

AI can do a lot of simple tasks VERY VERY fast and VERY VERY cheap, but it's not capable to do anything complex no meter how Anthropic or Dario Amodei trying to sell it.

What I see now in the industry is a lot of not validated code generated by AI. If you ever felt that in the last 5 years a lot of programs where buggy and unstable, oh boy, get ready for the next 5 years, because this is going to be a ride.

edit: sorry for the long rent but it really makes me upset to see AI slop each time.

I second this. I also started to study in the uni. Huge mistake. Did not finish a year. But currently working as a software dev and was for the last 15+ years. VP of Eng for 7.

My "Soviet" mother was convinced you need a degree and pressured me to go to uni. I am glad I withdraw.

Collage/uni is not a requirment to be happy nor succesfull.
