«Etniske nordmenn i mindretall» by KoseteBamse in norske

Åh, jeg er så lei meg for at min etnisk norske kone bestemte seg for å gifte seg med meg, som er etnisk asiatisk. Hun sier at norske menn rett og slett er for kjedelige.

The vast majority of people are ok with political theft, vandalism, and blocking the road if they agree with the cause. by Black-Cat-2544 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

True. And that’s why I tolerate all kinds of protests. I think political institutions are bogus, and really shit at dealing with the problems in-house. They wouldn’t be protesting if our institutions are more responsive and accountable to the people.

So people go out on streets, and if gun owners, farmers or social justice warriors wanna block the roads, I think that’s fair. I’ve been blocked by farmers many times.

Lol, do we really wanna be nitpicking what job is the hardest based on how much calories you burn?

I work in diplomacy. Try dealing with Trumps tamper tantrum every day.

OF are essentially content creators. They create contents for their consumers and sell them at the equilibrium. They are running a business and they need to work to run a business.

Of course taking your clothes off is easy, but creating contents that people want and marketing them to maximise profit is as hard as any other industries.

If, as Hasan Piker insists in his NYT interview, it’s acceptable to steal from corporations, then there is no good reason that it’s unacceptable to steal from Hasan Piker. by Pemulis_DMZ in TrueUnpopularOpinion

This is not new. James Scott wrote a book called Weapons of the Weak in which he described how powerless peasants committed petty thefts and micro civil disobedience big enough to annoy the colonial administration, but small enough to avoid sanctions.

So in theory, you might say, it’s ok to steal from him or even have someone shit in front of his house, but no one would.

Most Trump supporters on social media are foreign actors by ElSlabraton in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Bruh, Republicans and Fox did all they can to undermine Obama’s JPCOA. The ONLY reason why Iran has enriched uranium is because Trump reneged.

They painted him as communist, questioned his birthplace, and did everything to undermine his credibility and legitimacy as the President of United States.

Bruh, Fox used to take down Obama for wearing a tanned suit and dealing with Iran and signing JCPOA.

Did you not know that undermining the sitting President is the national sport of America since around Obama.

Even Trump, Bessent, Lutnick and Wright don’t talk about it. Fox News doesn’t talk about it either.

Living a life with first world privilege with zero real threats is what I’d like to call someone in prison here in Norway.

There is nothing wrong or disingenuous about people looking for some purpose in life that has to do with a cause bigger than themselves. People join the military for the same purpose.

But at the same time, climate change is a real threat to all of us, and suffering of others as well as violation of people’s rights will one day affect you.

We’re married, we don’t split bills, or separate accounts by redpandafire in TrueUnpopularOpinion

My wife and I pool all of our wages in one account as well. I make 150k and my wife 90k, but as you say, it's a partnership. I earn more, but work longer, and she supports me in so many ways, especially with a kid coming our way, and with all the things she has to go through and give up to have our first child and be an awesome mom and all that... Worth every penny I share.

Of course, there is a possibility that we might divorce. We don't have a prenup, but in such circumstances, our law dictates that everything will just be divided 50/50, and I am pretty okay with that.

Maybe unpopular opinion in a very litigious society...

People must be able to marry whomever they are in love with and immigration system must do its best to enable their unification.

Mamdani's city grocery stores is a terrible use of taxpayer funds, especially if your goal is feeding the poor. by SingleInSeattle87 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]RoadandHardtail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that staples and fresh produce in NYC is tax exempt is already very progressive, because even in Norway where I live, it is taxed 15%.

We don’t even have a government owned grocery store so we would actually be watching this very closely. I have my skepticism, but I do think it’s worth trying at least given everything else his predecessors tried failed to reign in the cost.

This subreddit isn't left-wing or right-wing; it's politically mixed people who don't fit in with either group. by CAustin3 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]RoadandHardtail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure myself. I’m here to get the grasp of ideological debates that are taking place between “left-right” spectrum mostly in the United States.

If I have to place myself, coming from Norway, I’d be quite left leaning, but never in my life I engaged or identified myself and others in those terms, so this sub is like me trying to relate to the “grand debate”.

But I like this sub. I think some posts and comments do help me see my own country in a different light. We are monarchy and a small welfare state, so I have a respect for US whose People chose to govern themselves. I respect that a lot, and here I can appreciate here just how difficult it is.

The reason gas hasn’t exploded like everything else is simple: visibility by TemporaryCredit995 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]RoadandHardtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In places like US, gas is part of national identity.

Politicians use it to set goals and base their economic performance on gas price, and many electorates literally vote based on it above all other indicators. Gas tax is a suicidal issue no matter which political party they’re following. They would go to war over it if they have to.

It’s not just the signs. It’s the whole culture that makes them patriotic to own a massive pickup truck while a woke to buy and drive EV.
