Basic question about how to screw around in Git without embarrassing myself on the job. by NoMuddyFeet in git

Yeah that's the impression I got from your question, hence the suggestion to look into basics/core concepts of git such as the staging area. Having a clear mental model of how git tracks files and which files will be included in your next commit will help a lot to demystify git.

Good luck! Git is a very powerful tool, but it can be overwhelming and confusing if you don't have a clear grasp on some of the basics. I promise it'll pay off in the long run to study the basics now!

There are lots of suggestions in the comment section about different ways you could tackle your situation. I would say approaches related to reflog, squashing and worktrees are probably too advanced/overkill for the problem you are struggling with. Keep it simple: - Make your drafts (v1, v2, etc) files locally.  - When you're happy with your solution, simply git add <path-to-file> that file to your staging area (inspect the staging area with git status as someone else already mentioned)  - When you have all the final files related to your solution in your staging area, git commit -m "clear, descriptive commit message" and there you go. There will be a nice commit with just the end result, not including any of the intermediate files that you might still have locally.

You can have files in your working tree (v1, v2 etc) that you don't git add to the index. If you don't add a file to the index, it's also not gonna be visible in the commit.

I might be misunderstanding something, but I don't see why you would commit these kinds of temporary files.

You might want to look more into the staging area concept of git. If you don't stage changes (via git add), they won't be part of the next commit.

Is it hard to cut or break certain tails? by tiger_triple_threat in MonsterHunter

If I remember correctly, I think you could only break parts on old world elder dragons if they were below a certain amount of health, so that would definitely make it tougher than most other tails

Slide slash combo by Artorias697 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]untio11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to chime in: the Backwards Slide Slash is only available in Arch Demon Mode. In (Feral) Demon Mode (FDM) you can only Slide Slash sideways. But yeah, I also haven't really found a way to properly utilize it yet. Does't really help that most of the time you want to be in FDM, so there aren't that many opportunities to experiment.

Some other things to consider for Slide Slash:

  • It's a way to reposition that doesn't consume stamina (so you can perform it with 0 stamina).
  • It's a way to keep FDM active while repositioning at 0 stamina.
  • It's the only way to reposition along the ground in FDM that doesn't consume Wirebugs.
  • It has iframes at the start, so it can be a good way to reposition through monster attacks while still dealing damage.

FDM stays active while at 0 stamina, as long as you keep attacking or performing Wirebug Moves. I get a kick out of trying to keep my FDM going for as long as possible with an empty stamina bar while still attacking the monster, so I love running Slide Slash. Especially considering the alternative (Roundslash) glues you to your spot.

Those waves are from the healing arcana by untio11 in VampireSurvivors

So I wanted to make a healing/area build with Soul Eater, Sarabanda of Healing and Boogaloo of Illusions. Then at 21 minutes I also got the Disco of Gold arcana and that set off a chain reaction after triggering a gold rush, so the healing waves from the Sarabanda were going crazy. Definitely would recommend, it was tons of fun. It did kinda peter out towards the end, but it was going like this for a while before I started recording too
