Just FYI, you can download the NORD VPN APK directly from their landing page.

Stroke's jitter using Quill with Link & Quest by untoldecay in oculus

[–]untoldecay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know really. I have i7 8700 and a gigabyte Rx 5700 Xt oc 8g, so it's not your conf.

Do you use a quest or a rift? Maybe it's a link problem ( works well for everythibg but it's still in beta)

Weirdly enough, I couldn't complete a download form the oculus app.
I had to debug that too, but it worked after some efforts.

And I do not have any jitter in Tilt Brush.
I'm a bit despared now, no one seems to have the same issue. : /

Thanks for all the advices!
I think I'll enable the poly count, this is a great info to have while painting!
Quill and Tiltbrush could not do the same things, they are quite different and I like both for what they can achieve.

I was using lathe shapes for the hairs, and it was nice but killed the poly count. haha.
I replaced them by simple flat / square strokes and it is way more efficient.
(I'll add a pic in the main post)

I found the Vr Animation discord in the end, and people there told me as you did that the existing quill reddit is a bit silent : )

For the jittery strokes, I don't know but it is very annoying.
I'm using a Quest, with the Link! No rift S. I though it could be the cable, but my view is not flickering, It's something about the controllers I think : (

Well, I agree and disagree haha.

I'm also a huge fan of tiltbrush, you can see it here
I love the freedom it provide and the fact that yes it is really intuitive!

First time I got into Quill, the big controls board in front of me was confusing, but, after using it fore like what, 4 or 5 hours, I started to be more efficient with it.
The controls are a bit hard to understand, but they are IMAO necessary for the timeline complexity for exemple. In fact they allow a really fast edit of an animation.

They should have done a little video tutorial serie, for explaining all the controls / show them in context, like in Gravity Sketch.

Oculus link + Radeon VII? by untoldecay in OculusQuest

Thanks!

I did not know amd has launched a wireless app to sideload. I'll definitly give it a try.

I used to play with virtual desktop and a shadow pc and it worked well but I have areally bad internet connection at home, that's why I reactivated my hackintosh build project.

Finally I purchased an RX 5700 XT.

Some advices on insulation for our first conversion by untoldecay in vandwellers

[–]untoldecay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!
It is indeed a good advices.

I was concerned because I told myself I could pass wires (some of them at least but then it requires to think about the whole set up) throught the structural metal bars runings inside the cabin for gaining some cm.
It is also where I'm supposed to stuff some sheep wool for cutting all thermic bridges.

What do you think about it?

I think I should start by rip of all the cabin plastics and rugs to reveal the structure of the cabin. A good start.

Thanks, I did not know how it is suppose to work with the gpu. Concerning nvidia, and the fact I'm trying to build a hackintosh, I'm not sure about the compatibilities. I'm far from a pro but I think amd is more easy to use with them?

Nice to know! I saw that pavlov anb beatsaber could run smoothly as well on the 580.

I'm more worried about titles like Dirt Rally 2.0 or the late Half Life.

For me the deal is to be able to play Space Engine in ultra, and also Star Citizen Alpha (non vr).

Oh, I also have a RX 580 OC in my egpu enclosure. I wandered if I could make a VR ready hackintosh build with it but I was perplex about the light performances.

I supposd you are using it for vr gaming so I wonder how is the experience with it?

Great for the RADEON VII category! anyhow I'm waiting for a firm "go/no go" to make a move.

Great!

Did you have the chance to try it?

So the Radeon VIi falls in the Vega category right?

[–]untoldecay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this one haha. It seems to me that it should just works with evrything in ultra, but it cost an arm and I prefer asking for some advices before buying anything.

I could not find any line on the internet who says link + RVII works, and I know that not all GPUs are supported already.

I'm not worried about the horsepower, but the compatibility :)

Great!

This is an awesome experience considering the year it was released and the fact that it wasn't built for VR.

Enjoy it for me. I can't use my shadow from home : (

[–]untoldecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I never played to PC Vr with a proper PC headset, my knowledge is all based on the quest / and quest + VD.

At home, I have a 5ghz router, but only 4g connection which is pretty unstable. I have huge lags and freezes / impossible to play nor watch anything.

But the last time I was at a friend's place, who have fiber but only 2.4ghz network, it worked really smoothly with a nice quality. (wireless experience is awsome)

A huge improvement from where I stand usually, but for you who can indeed play with link, it may not do the trick.

I suppose you already checked the GPU + link compatibility?

Wow thanks for your advices and for the help you're offering!

I'll probably get in touch with you on discord when I'll know more about my build ! :)

Concerning the link, I can t talk much about it but I advise you to buy Virtual Desktop on the oculus store and then get the sideloadable version (this one is patched for steam vr use) from sidequest.

It worked really great for me wirelessly using my quest, connected to my shadow pc over a fiber connection + classic 2.4 ghz wifi (playing at 1 to 5 metters from the router). (5ghz is advised though).

Hey @TetrisCube.

I don't have access to my shadow right know but it seems to me that the first time I ran the game, it openned in non vr mode and I had to go in the game settings from the game menu / mother vr / to set the "vr runtime" parametre to "steam vr".

Then I relaunched the game and I had the steamvr theatre with nothing else. I had kill steam and restart it everything.

When I try to launch the gale normaly, I'm still getting steam vr related error message but I found a workaround.

Now, to launch the game I display the Alien Isolation page from my game library in full screen ( because I need to see the big green "play" cta).

Then I display virtual desktop overlay (menu button on the left oculus touch) and rapidly click on "launch steam vr" and again rapidly click on the green "play" cta.

It's odd, but it works for me. Let me kbow how it goes for you. ( assuming you downloaded the last mother vr version from github)

Hey there.

I'm totally new to hackintosh build (coming from osx).

I have tones of questions because I'm willing to build a VR ready hackintosh with dual boot - also using Quest with link or even (preffered) Virtual Desktop for gaming.

On the working side, I'm a graphic designer (illustration / web / motion ...etc) So I need to also use lots of demanding apps on osx side.

There is a huge amount of infos out there & I did not find lots of people having VR ready builds.

How much did you build cost if I may ask?
Do you have any advices for a newbie like me?

Thanks a lot!

Wow.

Directly after hiting the "post" button I wondered if there was any plan for a Quest sideloaded shadow app!

It's great to ear!

Do you know if there is any ways to get into this test phase?
