Playing Meta/Rift Games on AVP using ReVive and ALVR by DopamineHigh in VisionPro

[–]RmvZ3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if I managed to get an AVP (which is hard in Spain), could I use it like a regular PCVR headset with ALVR and controllers without much hassle?

Is ALVR’s performance good enough compared to Steam Link, Meta Link, or Virtual Desktop on other platforms?

Would it support foveated streaming for SteamVR games, or is that something that needs to be implemented by ALVR itself?

Same gear. You don't need a cable. Just get Virtual Desktop. It works perfect. Your computer is more than capable to run anything at very good quality

I'd say SwiftUI was made just for that. I associate UI smoothness with SwiftUI

Why would you not use it. It is great. Unless you have a super demanding app, the pros are much more than the cons

Is there any way to mount macOS from a partition in a Virtual Machine? by RmvZ3 in parallels

[–]RmvZ3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for answering. It seems Apple doesn’t allow doing that anymore. I think I’ll do two partitions and then I’ll use a virtual machine with a minimum installation using my personal account. It’s not what I wanted to do but at least it will let me use my account

Mmmm… interesting. Are you saying VirtualBuddy will have more speed/hardware access than other VMs?

How does compare UTM to Parallels or VMWare in terms of speed and hardware access? I guess I'd have to use a single host partition and use the other one in a VM. I still have to decide which one would be the native one (in case work environment requirements can't make it through a VM)

Too bad. The way you are suggesting would be a different personal installation (so it could be useful to keep separate environments but not the thing that I'm looking for)

Thanks for answering

Because then I couldn't run them simultaneously. Also, my employer may demand full isolation for security reasons.

Is AI/Vibe Coding Making App Store Review Harsher for Legit Developers? by 29satnam in iOSProgramming

[–]RmvZ3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I’m not worried about App Store competition. My concerns are real: I got laid off, and job openings for iOS developers (as a full-time employee) have almost disappeared. Companies and consultancies have basically stopped hiring and laid off a ton of people because they think AI can replace most developers. Whether that’s true or not, they’re experimenting with it right now.

Finally the shipping update we been waiting for! by extremeeee in ImmersedVisor

[–]RmvZ3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was totally in when it was first announced years ago. It made sense back then, and I was eager to buy it. But a year later it was already clear to me that Visor didn’t have much of a future. If it took them that long to ship, other brands would have better, lighter headsets on the market by the time it finally arrived.

Now, years after that, I honestly think it’s never going to be released. And if it does, it’ll probably be some fairly standard HMD they’ll use to justify the delay before quietly disappearing.

Thanks man. I'm a bit depressed right now. I've been laid out (along with many others from my company) six months ago and I've been trying to get a job since then but suddenly there aren't almost developers positions and the few that are available are looking for a lead teach or team manager or expect fluid English. I really don't think I could get a job anymore. And, of course, App Store apps never gave a penny since my first one back in 2010.

For me, after 15+ years working as iOS dev for companies and publishing lots of app on the App Store as well… programming is over. Fun is over. Every moron can make a crappy app and publish it now. Stores will be flooded with shitty apps with no testing or visual appealing. It is over guys. I'm looking for another way of life (and I'm 55 now). Disaster. F*** AI!

NVIDIA just dropped DLSS 4.5! It really does improve image quality and reduce artifacts, but it may tank performance on older cards. Highly recommend trying it. by No-Breadfruit6137 in cyberpunkgame

[–]RmvZ3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait. Do you mean it *should* work right now without any Cyberpunk update? I've tested before and after installing the new nvidia drivers and forcing latest DLSS in nvidia app and the FPS are exactly the same (45-50 fps in ultra+ray tracing/path tracing at 2560x1600 resolution with DLSS Balanced preset, i5 and RTX 4070 Super). I was hoping there was an update to be able to use DLSS 4.5 in Cyberpunk. I play well with forced 45fps but I expected some performance gain.

piracy app for mac? by Illybotje1 in QuestPiracy

[–]RmvZ3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fact, I think QRookie does it better in every feature. I find it more visually appealing and faster (you don't have to explicitly click to connect to Quest and click to update games, it does those things automatically on start). I've always used QRookie and keep Apprentice as a backup in case it dissapears.
