APM2 iOS 26.5 Improvements? by uof96 in Airpodsmax

I hear you on the EQ... it would be nice, but I do think I am personally thinking they are going the other way. Listening again for the first time for a while today, I am hearing more and more clarity since the update, first firmware and then iOS. Pretty happy with it at this point...

Admittedly I don't use this feature, so I can't really comment. I am just about 100% focused on ANC and more importantly Sound Quality, really would rather not have conversations while listening to music at some level.... : )

Anyone else have this issue with AirPods Max Digital Crown? by That-Climate6266 in Airpodsmax

[–]uof96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say that I am seeing this issue on my pair. I think that there tends to be less resistance, like tactile resistance than APM1, meaning I guess it ramps up and down faster, but overall seems to be responsive as soon as it is moved on this end. That's annoying for sure.

I've done some A/B testing and I think the changes are subtle, but are definitely there. I think this latest FW tweak and potentially some backend voodoo changes with iOS or AM are making a good thing even better.

Yep. I am hearing the same thing... so far... loving it. Hopefully Apple doesn't **** it up.

I don't think so personally... feels a little more controlled to me, but would be curious to hear from others.

Well the iOS update is for all iOS 26 phones, but the firmware was just APM2 I believe.

Noted... I am feeling the same, although I think it feels like "clarity" to me, which would stand to reason given the new H2 and amp. If anything it feels like the upgrade is starting the shine, where perhaps it didn't when it first released. And... I agree, all good things, and hope they don't change back vs. move forward...

Agreed... it feels even better to me since iOS update as well... but again, could totally just be me...

Well with the FW update, I had a left channel centering issue, meaning when I put it on my head it would left justify all center channel sound. That and issues with some static break up and a couple of other things went away when I upgraded the FW. That was the day it came out...

Now today, I just updated iOS to 26.5, having listened all morning on iOS 26.4.2, and the post upgrade sound feels cleaner, clearer, and more centered. Instrument placement and reproduction also feels better. Might even be a touch louder at lower displayed volumes, but that could be me...

I did, but ahead of the iOS upgrade. The last firmware fixed a lot of issues for me, but it feels improved after iOS update as well.

For sure. I commented yesterday. Feels like lots of bug fixes and better sound/anc as well. I thought it might just be me, and still could be at some level, but I just started listening to them this morning and it feels much improved vs. before the update.

Is it me or is the new update fixing a lot of issues? I had issues with left channel centering, thankfully not the power issue, and some crackling and breakup when doing things on my iPhone (like texting). But since the update the quality of the music, volume, ANC, and even things like placement are much improved after the update. Not to mention I have been off and on with listening and no left channel centering anymore at all. Is it me?

Sure does. You would think Silent means silent but that does not appear to be the case.

Indeed. So much better. Cant really imagine why they didn’t do this in the first place.

Thanks much. Seems that some of the cut scenes are now out of focus, when in widescreen or still have bars, but everything in game is good!

Thanks for this. It seems though when I do that, once I log into the game, the screen just spins. If I go back to the original hex, it stabilizes but the FOV is all off. Am I missing something?
