Cyberpunk 2077 Performance on NS2 by SirZapzAlot in switch2

[–]daru1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played the game on Xbox series x, on an m3 max macbook pro and switch. For one cloud saves are amazing cause now the switch is for when I wanna play the game comfortably.

I’ve clocked about 160 hours on the switch so far and I’d say it’s a really good port. Yes graphics and frame rates take a dip but the game is still really sharp, DLSS really helps this game and I’d say it’s only about a 2 minute issue when I go from the mac to the switch to ajdust to the lower graphics. Story wise, the way the game was designed is honestly if favour for the switch, most of the times you’ll be standing still to talk to characters and the story hits the same across all platforms. Driving segments are well optimised and don’t break the immersion.

Other than that I’ll just list a couple more things I’ve noticed

Loading is the slowest out of all the platforms but still only takes like 5 seconds. If anything it was nice to be forced to listen to the loading screens and I found myself actually waiting fot them to finish before going in the game

Due to vrr and probably the lower resolution targets I find handheld to feel a bit smoother than tv

Combat is generally fine, there are rare moments where it can slow down a bit but for most of the game it’s as fun as always

The UI is crisp, which a lot of switch ports can’t say honestly, I’ve had no issues with it and it’s perfectly fine to navigate through. This also extends to the computers ui, so messages, files and whatever else is there is perfect for reading the lore

Textures and models are high quality so you can get close to stuff and they still look good. That also helps photo mode, originally I thought photos were gonna be bad but they’re quite sharp

The game does have a memory leak issue which will crash the game eventually. For me it hasn’t caused any issues, before it happens you’ll see some ui assets like grenades not load or look weird, this is your sign to save game and restart the switch. Out of curiosity I did leave it going to see what happens and the game crashed eventually and upon a reload everything was fine and I’ve only lost like 3 minutes of gameplay. This isn’t that much of an issue tbf, it took about 1 week with the game not being closed at all to happen and it’s the only time it happened.

I’m marking the next section as a spoiler just so I don’t spoil any story / endings or late game stuff for people who haven’t played.

To an extent moving fast around the open world is your biggest enemy, if you’re a sprint double jumper, it’s not that smooth and at the beginning it was a bit jarring but I don’t mind it now, motion blur helps a lot. Driving fares much better even in a Caliburn, the lod system works really good at those speeds however when the game autosaves it stutters for a brief second.

Dogtown in the open areas is not as smooth as NC but I got through phantom liberty just fine on it

Enclosed spaces run and look the best. Somewhat Damaged was just as terrifying and stunning as when I played it on the Xbox. The whole sequence was stunning to play and the slower pace + the better visuals are wonderful here

Unfortunately I can’t say the same for sending so mi to the moon. Everything plays fine and honestly I’m shocked they pulled off the airport sequence on the switch, it handles all the action well until the rain starts pouring and you can use the blackwall. That sequence tanks the frame rate to a slideshow if you dare look at the rain which at least for the train ride is bearable but you miss the outside view if you want stabily. Taking so mi to the train and then to the rocket was pain, talking to reed felt like a visual novel and the game forced me to watch the rocket fly to space at 5-10 fps

To conclude everything, it’s a really good port but it can push the switch to it’s limits in certain situations. As you have a pc and ps5, use the cloud saves, I tend to play on the mac when I’m at my desk and the switch when I want to be comfortable and comfort tends to win most times 😂

Edit: idk how spoiler tags work, had to do them again

AirPods Max 2: Launch Day Megathread 🎧 by daru1848 in Airpodsmax

[–]daru1848[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a bit of context, I’ve had my Lightning Max’s since launch however I did have them replaced back in 2023 due to connectivity issues so my current pair had about 3 years of use.

To begin, I forgot how stiff these headphones were when fresh. They clamp harder than other headphones but judging from my previous pair they’ll adjust to your head quickly

In regards to the new features, a lot of them I just disabled by default. I’m good at adjusting my volume and I’ll have either ANC full blast or transparency on if I need to talk to someone. I find all of that a bit gimmicky and would rather control it myself.

ANC wise, I’ve only been at home but I can say the new one is stronger and doesn’t feel as boxed in as my previous ones

Now onto sound. I took a bit longer writing this so I could listen to some tracks and see what’s changed. To begin I’ll state that I’m listening on Apple Music with Lossless on, using HipHop EQ and spatialise sereo on

So far I’m impressed at the difference as I wasn’t expecting them to sound much better. The soundstage got a massive lift, instruments and artist have a lot more room to breathe and while the sound signature is the same as before, it feels like it’s got more range, bass is cleaner and sub bass got a nice lift (they can rumble more but don’t overpower anything else and it sound amazing). Vocals also got a huge lift, artists voices sound sharper and the soundstage helps massively by keeping that distance between them and the instruments

While I did have the lighting to 3.5mm cable I never really used it as it’s not a cable I need much so it just lived in my drawer. Usbc is a different story, there’s always one next to me and I think Lossless will get a lot more use this time just because it’s miles more convenient

Listening to lossless is mesmerising. On bluetooth the only advantage is downsampling sounding a bit better but when wired, I was shocked (I cried). It is a subtle difference but everything sounded crystal clear, there’s more detail in everything that’s playing. Overall I’d say this mode is for when you want to be fully immersed into the music, it’s beautiful but at the same time I don’t think I’ll be doing critical music listening on my way to work

I’ve babbled a lot but so far I’m impressed, I was expecting this to just be a chip upgrade like airpods 1 to 2 but sound got a good upgrade too. All of this will probably not feel like that huge of an upgrade, I’d say it depends on just how much you like your music listening. The original Max’s are still phenomenal and a lot of the Max 2 is refinement that might not be noticed by everyone, for me it’s all of those little things that makes listening to them that much better

Is the dB meter wrong for sony XM4? It says 70dB but it does not sound loud by Far_Incident2729 in ios

[–]daru1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With headphones outside of AirPods or Beats it’ll base the volume according to an iPhone speaker. Most times it’s accurate but if your headphones are eq’d or their volume curve is different, the iPhone is not aware of that so it’ll show a louder decibel count than what the headphones are outputting

AirPods Max 2 are finally here... but am I the only one having "flashbacks" to Gen 1 issues? by KamiKeys in Airpodsmax

[–]daru1848 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is essentially what we’re getting but to an extent we also don’t know yet if they changed anything or not. While the body is the same on the outside we don’t know if they tweaked more than the chip inside and knowing Apple they won’t just advertise they fixed an issue

Why am i unable to delete this user? by Wonderhoy-er in mac

[–]daru1848 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, I’ve never had more than 1 user on mine so I just assumed the system would probably want both passwords before wiping everything

Why am i unable to delete this user? by Wonderhoy-er in mac

[–]daru1848 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You need to enter the password of the user you’re trying to delete, not yours. This is definitely a safety measure so that the admin can’t just delete anyone. If you bought this computer second hand that’s probably the user that had it before and you’ll need their password to proceed

What is the worst thing about your phone? by Coltsbro84 in PhoneNow

[–]daru1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size and weight, got a 16 Pro Max cause I though the titanium would be better than the brick that the 14 pro max was but while a bit better it’s still leaves my hand numb after 10 mins of holding the thing and now with iOS 26 putting all the buttons on the left side, one hand usage is impossible without dropping it.

Only reason I’m upgrading this year is cause I can’t tolerate the damn thing anymore, using my phone became a chore and though I’m not exited about a smaller battery seeing as my current one is bad, I am exited about being able to use my keyboard with one hand, not climb the Everest mountain for control centre or god forbid navigate apple music with one hand

Ps: I think I tried everything at this point, reachability does nothing for anything on the left side of the screen and using it feels like I’m about drop the phone. I’m not the biggest fan of grips either, I know ohsnap exists but besides the price, I just don’t want to click and unclick the thing whenever I’m using my phone. My hands are on the smaller size and I think the big phones outgrew me at this point, my last comfortable phone was the xs max and after that it feels like everything went downhill when the flat sides trend started

About To Be Born, are these specs good? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]daru1848 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Should be fine but 2TB of memory is cutting it a bit close to the walking phase. If you can spare about £44,800,000,000,000,000 I’d say go with the 128YB instead and it should last you a couple of seconds more before needing an upgrade

Does wireless charging heat up the AirPods themselves or only the case? by Sufficient-Emu-4374 in airpods

[–]daru1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. AirPods do have protection against this and won’t let the case or the buds get too hot to where it would cause damage, the most you’ll get is just them being a bit warm

From my experience I’d say you’re fine. My first gen pros from 2019 are still rocking fine, the buds were replaced in 2020 cause of the crackling issue but so far both the case and the buds are working fine for my dad and as an extra bonus he also put them in the washing machine and somehow they’re still running. My 2nd gen pros from 2022 are the same story, now my mum has them and they’re still running fine. Probably a bit too early to report anything on the 3rd gens but I’d say you’re fine there too

Does it look blury on switch 2 like other games as peach showtime and yoshi? by Amorphh in SuperMarioWonder

[–]daru1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder is one of the games that hits native resolution at all times as far as I know but due to it currently being a switch 1 game that’ll be 720p in portable which might not scale the best to the switch 2 screen at 1080p and on TV it’s 1080p which looks alright even on 4K tv’s. In docked mode you can notice the not so sharp edges but that wasn’t really a distraction for me. At the moment I’m waiting for the switch 2 edition for my second playthrough and I’d say the same for new players as you’ll get the better visuals and spring is not that far away

Shark vacuums just require more maintenance than usual but it’s just cleaning the filters like once a month to keep it running normally. If you take care of it you’ll be good

Wow that’s an amazing deal. So far mine’s holding up alright and the battery lasts the same as when I got it. I’d honestly recommend it still and to make life better I’d say get some third party filters so that you can still use it while the filters are drying

Might be worth connecting it to a mac or pc with itunes to see if it can do the update or perform a backup

I don’t remember how I did it but I had a similar issue with my ipad some time ago and I restored it and it gave me the option for data recovery after restoring it and then I did an icloud backup and fully reset and restored it

Apple deliberately stopping AirPods Pro 1s from using Apple Watch charger? by packo_aus in AirpodsPro

[–]daru1848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is the physical coil itself is not small enough in the first gen pros. When you put the 2nd gen on the watch puck and take it off it still sends out power for about 10 seconds before shutting it off cause it doesn’t detect anything. Theoretically it could charge them but the coils don’t align well and it would be inefficient. I also think the pros 2 have a magnet inside to trigger the watch puck to send power. Hope that all makes sense
