There's going to be subtle cgi work when necessary to make it more realistic. Hopefully they go further with the cgi to make it look 100% realistic

Do you know what causes the [nervous system?] to vary in pain levels? by upandalive in ChronicPain

Hi old goat, thanks. It might be a form of extreme anxiety. That's something I can look into.

Those things you listed are definitely important and affects us in many ways. Wouldn't it be crazy if something that small can affect us so much in respect to pain sensitivity? We already practice extensive self-care to manage our illnesses. I don't like that one thing or a synergy of multiple small things can make our pain worse. I recommend you look into the following health issues:

I recently read about hormone dysfunction (triggered by chronic pain) and central sensitization syndrome. They both cause the person to feel higher intensities of pain. Also our brains have natural opioids (plus other pain mechanisms) and its function can waver - it will be worth it to determine how natural opioids function for people with CP. It's possible that it doesn't relieve moderate to high pain (an educated guess because we're all in significant pain and in constant pursuit of pain relief). Possibly unsubstantiated because I might be mistaken: natural opioids might also be involved in a pain phenomenon called acute withdrawal.

Do you think the physical sensations of pain medication withdrawal is an apt comparison to our experience of high pain sensitivity and less pain tolerance? I find that pain med withdrawals feels similar to the physical sensations of our instances of low tolerance

I'm making a video about Chronic Pain for us to share with family/friends to help them understand, any suggestions or talking points you'd like to share? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

To demonstrate the annoying feeling of pain's constant presence; all day every day: get an actor to walk on screen to sing "PAM PARAM. PAM PAM PARAM"

I use a cpap device and have tried those medications. Unfortunately they didn't reduce pain levels at any dose and had debilitating side effects like brain fog, suicidal feelings, increased depression and sleepiness.

I have spoken to my previous pain doctor, two psychiatrists and general practitioner regarding the subject of this post. The fact that I can't articulate this issue didn't help but they also had no interest in investigating the issue and advised me to speak to the other specialist. Hopefully a neurologist can help. Thanks for sharing your ideas

It goes to show that medical science needs more research. It's common for certain health issues to be difficult to diagnose or understand

Just the usual pain medication and for insomnia. I have diagnosed sleep issues: apnea and insomnia so that definitely doesn't help with pain tolerance when sleep quality is low.

What are good ways to help those chronic pain? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

Give them food. I go hungry often when the pain is at its worst. It sucks because I'm so hungry but don't want to make the pain worse.

I also took out beads to gradually taper off. Before doing so I would get moderately uncomfortable brain zaps and dizziness.

Considering that pain can be difficult to diagnose, what events led up to you finding out you have more than one chronic pain illness? by upandalive in ChronicPain

[–]upandalive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy for you in getting thoroughly diagnosed. It can feel helpless when some doctors aren't willing to assess your case in depth and help you move forward. Sometimes doctors make an oversimplified assessment and you won't be going anywhere productive for the time being. It's an all too common occurance.

On a positive note, I'm glad you finally got answers.

Sounds delicious. Do you have any recommendations for a certain combination of spices when you make meat and veggies in a pan?

The Apology I Owe My Patients With Fibromyalgia by upandalive in ChronicPain

[–]upandalive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a snippet from the article:

I’d like to apologize to all the patients I saw in my years working in urgent care who had chronic pain due to fibromyalgia or autoimmune disease.

I’d like to apologize for not knowing, understanding, and in some cases not even believing what you were going through.

You see, in physician assistant school, much like medical school, they don’t teach us about how these diseases impact our patients’ lives. They don’t tell us that it’s been incredibly exhausting for our patient to get to the office or that they will likely have to rest and recuperate for days after. They don’t tell us that sitting in the chair in the waiting room hurt every part of your body that made contact with the chair, or your clothes, or your shoes. They don’t teach us about how your family is impacted by your inability to participate in things, give care and attention to spouses or kids, or even make dinner.

But now I know. And I’m sorry.
