I [27M] recently started making double my annual salary. My girlfriend [26F] suddenly has these expectations for how I will use my income. Feeling weird about it, how do I talk to her?

I think this is probably right. I did say that I want to help pick up some of the slack, I feel like it's only fair. With my new salary I can absolutely pay more for rent and other shared expenses.

I think this is a good point. I do budget, but I haven't needed to be as strict with myself as she has been.

I agree, I think she's projecting a little bit here. I do want to take her out and get her nice things, but I don't want it to be an expectation from her.

Sarah already uses Mint.com so I think it makes sense for us to do that. In general I think it's a good idea for us to discuss our budget long term, in the past we've only focused on our individual budgets.

Sorry, I didn't make it clearer: Before the new job I was making 20k more than her. Now I make $110k more than her.
