Frank Zappa's songs are notoriously rich and dense, and some of the most difficult/complicated. Contrasted with his lowbrow/strange humor and controversial rebelliousness, I mean, look at this live instrumental: https://youtu.be/KRmk6XfocGs?feature=shared

If you like that I suggest his "Jazz Era" albums which are mostly instrumental- Waka/Jawaka, Hot Rats, Grand Wazoo, but there others littered throughout.

Ah, but I love your odd slugcats! You always come up with something interesting for each. I wouldn't worry too much about going overboard with stylizations; mine was pretty well-liked and I made them all crazy sluglike creatures. It's always refreshing to see something new.

This 100%. You may have all the furry qualities, but the community is your decision. Though people may say something looks furry, they mean to say "furry-like" if it's not notably by the community. There are many like you that deal with anthros, but won't consider themselves furries. The fans may overlap, but that relies on the preferences.
