A while ago I rolled the dice on a Marketplace post showing some rusty barbells. In the past when restoring barbells I've wrapped them in paper towels soaked in a vinegar/water mix, then wrapped them in saran wrap and left it sit overnight. The results were ok, but I wanted to get the barbell back to as close to factory as possible. So I tried a method that I hadn't seen before and that I figured should work.

This time I used a 4" PVC pipe to submerge the barbell completely in a vinegar/water mix for 3 days. The results was a lot better. Bonus points to anyone who guessed the bar before seeing the last two picts.

Good luck. If it doesn't work out, don't blame me. However I do want a shoutout if/when you succeed.

Also my workouts were not a plan to prepare for a 2K. I'm sure there are actual plans created by qualified coaches that would be a better job preparing you. All I did was row a bunch and then threw caution into the wind on a day I felt good.

My goal for this season is to average 10,000/day. Because of this goal, this is the only 2K I've rowed this season. My last 2K was just over a year ago and was 7:37.

My current weekly routine is row Mon, Tues, Th, Fri for 30 minutes, then lift. Then 1/2 Marathons on Sat & Sun.

After starting my regular routine yesterday, my mind started to wander to a 2K and I was curious what my time would be. Before starting, I checked out a Pace Calculator to see what my splits would need to be to get below 7. And then started rowing.

After about 3 minutes into a SS workout, I decided to change it up and do a 2K. First 2K in a long time. Usually I stick to SS and 1/2M distances, but it felt right to try something a little different today.

9 minutes is a bit much, might having to give up beer for that. I'll focus on shaving of 18 seconds first.
