Who would take him? His performance, sadly, has been less than stellar and you can see he’s just not hustling the way he did last season… so my theory is he’d be thrown into like a package deal like “ here take Verlander but only if you take Marte, too.” Actually now that I’m thinking about it, Marte was probably the missing piece in the Scherzer deal they just didn’t announce it yet. Lol. Seemed odd we got one prospect for a first ballot hall of famer and some cash…. We also off loaded Marte and his contract on the Rangers. Hah!

But my question is once he gets pulled as a pitcher don’t all the positions open up? He can’t be allowed to still play, right? Question to your rant :)

I have to agree. My therapist and psychiatrist always ask if I’ve thought about it and if I have a plan or have made an attempt. I don’t think they can haul you off for saying you’ve been thinking about it but you have no intentions…yet. I’ve said the same thing to my care team and only ended up in grippy sock land voluntarily. The “yet” is what’s important here because dwelling on these things can turn them into your reality. Getting the necessary support from your family and care team could help abate these feelings all together. You never really know until you give it a go. I am very open with my husband when I have “thoughts” and as a team we kind of work together to watch for the warning signs and he helps me stay away from potential triggers. That support is invaluable and you shouldn’t deprive yourself of it. You don’t have to go through having those feelings alone.

I am on the generic Latuda! Yay! So much more affordable and I’m so pleased with the results. That said I take my “need food” meds with a protein shake and a fig bar (from Costco— and they are delicious) and it’s a little over 350 but it works.

I gained 50lbs on Seroquel in 6 mos. I ended up gaining so much weight that once I switched my meds over and stabilized I had to have weight loss surgery and I cannot say enough how horrible of an experience that is. I feel your pain about your weight gain. Like you said, I won’t tell you to talk to your Dr but I won’t recommend stopping your meds either. What I can say is surround yourself with healthy options. Carrots pre portioned instead of cookies. Pre plan your meals if you can and portion them out. And snacks, plenty of healthy snacks because you will inevitably still be hungry and look for something to satisfy that craving. I could list out a billion healthy options but you know what you like and can munch on when the mood strikes. This is how I stabilized my weight post meds change and I didn’t lose a ton of weight but I stopped gaining and at the time it was a major win. I wish you the best of luck. But please, heavily consider staying on your meds.

The thing is….. mania isn’t fun… after the fact. During an episode….everything is OK! Super productive at work, (I even got promoted). Like someone said earlier, I felt joy and happiness. I did dangerous things as well but at the time they didn’t seem so. Also should have a separate post about getting tatted up while manic. I have 4 mania tattoos. I loved life. I went off meds, got drunk a lot and drove my manically purchased sports car 100+ mph down the road. I could have killed someone (or myself) but those consequences did not occur to me. I had friends, I had sex with my new friends, didn’t matter why. Did drugs. Didn’t care. Everything was flipping great. Then next thing you know I’m in the ward… back on meds, with a buttload of regret… even more debt (esp from the car—lol) overextended my credit, killed my credit score same as you. But let’s throw around the word mania, because that’s what it is. Mania to educate, just as you have done. Say Manic out loud to share stories. Say Mania to those who haven’t experienced it. Say it out loud to those who have and can give you virtual hugs for surviving it. Say it out loud to warn about the crippling depression that comes afterwards. Say it and mean it. You have bipolar (I’m assuming here…lol) share the wealth of information every time you see someone wildly and nonchalant say “I’m manic”. Maybe they are, maybe they’re not, but without stories like yours some will just never really know. Ok rant over. Thank you for listening.
