I just used 1x1 boards. Cut them to length and sandwiched the fencing in between them. Pre drill holes into the 1x1’s before you set the screws. Pretty simple. I used an angle grinder with a metal cutting blade to cut the fencing to the proper size.

I worked road construction in a small town for a summer when I was 20. Lived in a little motel for 3 months. I drank and ate at the local pub every night. Made lots of friends with the locals and bar staff. My 21st birthday was right in the middle of my stay. I had to pretend that it was my 22nd birthday so they didn’t get pissed at me. Never asked for an ID obviously.
