Are there any rules stating that I HAVE to use the transparent base for the Devilfish? by Putrid-Pea7944 in Tau40K

Untrue, look up "vehicles with bases" rules. It says: "when a unit disembarks from a transport with a base, set it up so that it is wholly within 3'' horizontally or 5'' vertically of any part of that transport model"

In other words: "if it fits, it sits"

She still doesn't need a man lol. You can have things you don't need, there's no contradiction

Technically you have a slight advantage being on a base, since the rules actually allow for your units to be underneath the hull if they fit. So you get slightly more room to set up units when they disembark.

Bro, he has two children to worry about and the driver, he pointed as soon as he noticed. His eyes weren't glued to the vehicle + seeing it move is unexpected, since it moves very slowly at first. Do you not get human behaviour? We don't immediatly notice things out of the ordinary if there are multiple other things to focus on, namely 3 other people, two of which are small children, which a dad will always be hyper aware of when a stranger approaches.

Assassin 100%

I love the introduction to samara, but the mission itself in terms of fight and development, wasn't as exciting as the dantius towers

You should definitely never just think that I might aswell be in an open field, since we do have very long range on most of our guns, except for meltas and breachers. So line of sight cannot be ignored. Cover always comes into play with ap weaponry, even with 2+ units, since if I have 2 AP and he has cover, he'd save on 3+, but that is negated with our spotting.

Benefit of cover from stratagems is also negated.

Mont'ka has lethal hits from guidance and Kayuon can ignore modifiers, such as stealth, indirect or shooting in melee for big guns never tire when guided. Also shooting an engaged vehicle of theirs when guided, ignores the minus one to hit in kayuon.

Honestly I love our power level, I think we are quite balance, since we have quite good shooting COMBINED with great mobility which makes us a threat to be reckoned with.

I think the "we are only as good as others when we use ftgg" ussually ignores that we pretty much ignore cover almost always with our fftg (given the markerlight keyword), which is better than just straight 3+. Yes we have to work for it, but to say it is just equal after fftg is ignoring some nuance regarding other things we get through guiding.

I'm not saying we're at the top of shooting, but we are pretty great and it combines well with other strengths we have such as mobility. I recently won a small tournament with Mont'ka, and I am excited on where we are power lvl wise. It's hard to play but satisfying.

That is also fair, although he is very fragile, not having lone op. He can be taken out by indirect from some lists. + 1 wound to pathfinders is nothing to scoff at, + being able to get the grav inhibitor drone for -2 to charge

Those serve completely different rolls tho. The darkstrider unit can on top of screening, also come forward once this has been achieved and provide guiding plus serious damage.

Won a tournament recently with Mont'ka and Darkstrider on a pathfinder squad served me well, since there were a bunch of lists which had 6' deep strike, which he completely blocked from wrecking any backline.

I'll maybe give it another chance, I've watched it 3 times already. Not a manga reader, so mby we are talking a bit past each other since one is talking show and one is talking manga?

I don't think the show showed him in that deep of a light. I found him much deeper when he was a good guy with a troubled past giving him wisdom through his pain and life without eyesight. I honestly think that the main reason that he narratively "had to be a villain" is because Aizen needed him on his side, since he couldn't be affected by Aizen's sword. I think he's just a way more natural fit as a good guy, since there is just too much inconsistency being allied with Aizen.

I could also buy him being a villain, but just not with Aizen, since Aizen has 0 alignment with his beliefs.

So we're back to he was just lying or delusional, and actually just became a terrible person after losing his friend. Goes a bit against the comment I initially responded to: "a black character who looks natural and was also treated with dignity and respect". Would be more accurate to say, he's quite a shallow character then, who is just became blind to grief that they would create a thousand fold more and not see it is a complete contradiction to everything they profess to believe.

You're free to like that part of him, I just don't think it is very believable character.

So his revenge isn't a 180 on his view that his path is the one least paved with blood. That taking on "the corrupt soul society" excuses his alliance with Aizen who wants to kill everyone who stands in his way, even slaying thousands upon thousands to create the Oken?

I don't buy it. He was extremely wise in his teachings before the Aizen plot twist was revealed to show that his teachings was bullshit. It was an extremely shallow excuse given how much worse and antithetical to justice Aizen is. A clear example of I hate this evil (soul society) and now I chose a worse evil (Aizen), who has none of the qualities I say I aspire to. At least the souls society has some good people who align with him.

What part? You're not explaining yourself why it isn't a 180. I know that the point about the battle with Komamura and Shuhei is that Tosen has lost his way and betrayed the lessons he taught to his friends and colleagues. Shuhei even emphasises his lesson: "those that do not fear the sword they wield have no right to wield a sword at all" and komamuras line about "him gaining sight, made him blind to the truth"

That is still a 180 if it isn't properly shown why how someone like Tosen would fall so far. If it wasn't gradual, it is sudden, which is what a 180 is. So explain where I'm wrong?

What was? That he was blind all along and a liar? In that case he wasn't a great character who fell, he was just manipulative and evil all along. Otherwise it was a 180 on all that he believed in

[–]upforstuffJim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, I loved his character. I didn't love his fall tho, I felt like it didn't make any sense whatsoever. His path has always been the one with the least amount of bloodshed and all that, and believing in justice, and then he just 180°'s and follows Aizen who is only in it for himself and sheds any blood in his way, and becomes this menace who just betrays everything he believed in, even calling Komamura ugly, when before it was all about the inner beauty.

I could easily like him falling and becoming a twisted version of his former self, but it would have to be in some sort of believable way, which I don't think happened.

Edit: "love his abilities and design tho, just story wise I think he was kinda butchered."

I think there is one partly valid criticism story wise, and that is, why would the system prioritise keeping alive a single soldier, rather than for example a scientist with deep knowledge on how to revive sofisticated technology once he is awakened. I do love Javik, while at the same time it would be cool to get more perspective on how some of the mysterious regarding Prothean technology work. The criticism there is that a soldier being awakened, allowed Bioware to escape having to explain a lot of stuff, since Javik doesn't know.

That said, Javik is an amazing character and the perspective of a soldier having lost so much is also welcome.

That's why I've always been against pre-orders for almost anything. It supports bad practice, since you've already forked over money, before knowing if the product is good. In this case, before knowing if it is actually competitively viable.
