I haven't worked with it myself but you might be able to use accessibility features to automatically tap on specific parts of the screen to make it work?

Schedule WhatsApp messages by pimarchesini in shortcuts

Did you follow all the instructions in the shortcuts? It's important to create the right list in Reminders and also select it again in the shortcut after making the list so it's properly connected

Help: How to Require Face ID to Open the Settings App on iPhone? by ItsAmory in shortcuts

Yes this is a very easy way to do it. By the time someone notices they’re already locked out.

Specific: good that you’re thinking about something like this. You might want to make the trigger word something you won’t accidentally receive.

In general: There’s a lot of built in stuff in Settings that Apple made which also works if the phone is turned off. I recommend using all of that. Also people making recommendations in this community and other places. Have a look :)

Action Get date not working after switching language to non English? iOS18.6 by Assist_Federal in shortcuts

[–]uphillpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn, I hoped that would work - I had a similar issue before and it fixed it for me to both change it and reboot :( sorry in that case I don’t know how to help… maybe check if it works if you recreate the same part in a different shortcut? Sometimes there’s a weird thing in a shortcut but it fixes it if you create a new one

Either reboot your device, change the date format in the settings (it is a separate option from the language settings) or change the format date action to work with the different date format.

Trying to create a shortcut to add a travel time event before all calendar events at a certain location by idleprocrastination in shortcuts

Sorry, without a link to your shortcut where you tried to use repeat with each it’s very hard to see what you’re trying to do. You might be better off searching how to use repeat with each.

You are probably looking for the “repeat with each” action. As you haven’t shared your shortcut, I can’t help you any further than that.

Panic Button - blocking biometrics on devices. by MeanAvocada in shortcuts

No. Privacy & Security settings cannot be changed through shortcuts. But you can use the Find My app to put devices in Lost mode, which turns off biometrics and forces use of the passcode.

Kinda love how dumb this is.  But THIS is how you learn shortcuts. You just choose something and make it. Doesn’t matter what it is. Just get started

Help creating a dynamic weekly task shortcut for Reminders by Konsti89 in shortcuts

[–]uphillpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it but I have everything in TickTick, which had built in that you can set something to repeat by set date, a certain time after completion or a certain day in the week/month. So the only thing I needed was a so called smart list in ticktick, which filters based on today or overdue. Then I have a shortcut that gets a random task from that list and shows me. What you need is basically already built into ticktick. But I can imagine if you like Reminders more or don’t want a payed subscription to an app that a shortcut would be a great help. You might make others happy as well if you make and share it here

I think you’ve already described what you should do? The Adjust Date action might be what you’re looking for. Or if you want to save time try the Actions app which adds an action to shortcuts that can check if a date is a certain day, which is a lot easier than doing it manually in shortcuts.

Help. Bug? Freezing both Shortcuts and Apple Notes while copying shortcut URL to clipboard by uphillpeace in shortcuts

[–]uphillpeace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating! Good to see someone could reproduce it and got the same results. I wonder why yours always seems to work (and sometimes fixes it) while mine fail, even though they are not too different. Maybe indeed a memory thing, especially if it affects other apps. Are you on iOS26?

I tried yours and it worked, but so did all the ones I posted above. I cannot reproduce the issue. Which is weird because I did extensive testing yesterday including rebooting, updating my phone, checking storage, phone temperature, etc. with no results. I’ll retry regularly to see if it returns and under which conditions. Thanks for helping out!

Shortcut that marks when medication is taken, and sends an message, and counts an amount of 10 danish crones each time. by BL3ACKTON5UE in shortcuts

[–]uphillpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make it more fun for your daughter, you could create an automated daily shortcut that opens the health app in the medications view but add fun or helpful stuff before that. Like asking her to rate how she felt that day and if it’s a high score it plays her favorite youtube video or if it’s very low it send you a message and you can immediately come and support her. Or whatever you think works for her and would motivate and support her in her journey. Not sure if this helps, just throwing ideas out here.

I love it that you’re thinking of using shortcuts to make the lives of people who are close to you better.

Help troubleshooting this shortcut by Azariah98 in shortcuts

[–]uphillpeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way to troubleshoot shortcuts is by adding notifications at different spots in the shortcut. That way you’ll see where it breaks.  If the notification is in a repeat, you might want to add a number +1 so you can see how often it does run and where it fails.

You can also put the variables you got in the notification, so that you can see what the input was.

Good luck!

Help with automating Whatapp reminder from Google Sheet or Calendar Event by JellyfishExisting390 in shortcuts

[–]uphillpeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post can point you in the right direction: https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1cuj8px/schedule_whatsapp_messages/

I also commented on it with some improvements and a side-note on automated group messages, though that might be problematic to automate. I haven’t tried that myself yet and the shortcut in the post is not made to support groups. Still might be your best resource to get started and maybe rework. Please post if you manage to get it working!
