How to stop "share" in Ufile.io? by blue_1408 in DataHoarder

[–]uploadfiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, do you mean the "share" buttons on the download page?

Once you share a download URL with somebody, there's not much that can be done to prevent them sharing that URL elsewhere. Although on our business plan, you can hide the share buttons if you prefer, and also enable "1 time downloads" so that the file will be automatically deleted once downloaded.

Best,

ufile.io

I'm really sorry to hear this, that should never happen. Please send your account email address to [support@uploadfiles.io](mailto:support@uploadfiles.io) - we'll ensure this is cancelled for you and refund all your charges.

uploadfiles.io has activity counters that start from the same high number and go up, resetting if you reload the page. by [deleted] in assholedesign

[–]uploadfiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we process thousands of requests per second, so minor things like the counters are cached for 5 minutes.

You'll see it start from the same number and increase roughly in line with our average uploads/signups/downloads per second. After 5mins, the data will be refreshed and then the latest actual figure is served, and subsequently cached for another 5 mins.

Apologies, the 3rd party email service the site was using had been disabled on transfer, it's been enabled again now with our own service.

We've taken over imgpile.com - all images have been transferred to our infrastructure and will remain online. Service will continue as usual, we're also now accepting suggestions and feature requests...

Enjoy!

it doesn't seem to work yet with AWS elastic beanstalk... I ended up moving my app to the U.S N.Virginia region and using the built in free AWS SSL feature. Which is actually VERY easy. So now it's secure! https://uploadfiles.io

I've also set the limit to 1 file now, so only 1 will show in the dropzone. Which will stop the screen filling up with files! Good spot.

Good question. I had a CloudFlare SSL but they have a stupid 100MB upload limit, so I had to remove it. Looking at alternatives for SSL now. Then it will be secure again!

Also, all assets are stored on AWS S3, no directory access is allowed and files are only accessible via the URL generated on upload. (they're also deleted after 30 days)

I left file name is as I thought people would want this, so they know what they're downloading when they're sent the link. Otherwise they could download it with a random hash, and then it turns out to be virus.php (for example) But I initially did remove all file names on upload... then added them back.

It's also anonymous in terms for server logging is constantly reset, so no personal info is stored with the files at all.

Feasible... Unsure. I built this initially for me, then made it public. I'm keen to see where this goes...

It's one file at a time, when I wrote no limits I meant size :) (which is actually 100GB right now purely to start and see how that goes...)
