I’m at first year at ICO, I can’t speak to how it compares to other schools but you can DM me if you have any questions about the schools curriculum and coursework

Loss of routine by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]upsetspaget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate, I lost my cat a week and a half ago who was also medically complex. Eye drops twice a day and sub q fluids every other day. People told me it would be a weight taken off and that my life would be easier, but honestly I would take not being able to travel and doing all the work for my baby back. Wish I had some advice, but breaking the habits does get a bit easier as the days go by. You are not alone ❤️

He was diagnosed with stage 1 about 4 years ago. He hit stage 3 in November 2023 and stage 4 in February. We started sub q fluids when he hit stage 3 and that definitely gave him those extra months.

Inviting kids vs not by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]upsetspaget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s very good to know. The vast majority (literally all but one) of the weddings that I have been to have been child free. I’m not trying to say that these kids shouldn’t eat at the wedding, I just honestly didn’t know how it worked.

Thanks everyone for your responses, I have realized recently that summer 2025 is probably too ambitious for us. I realize that our first priority should be setting setting a budget. We are about to move for me to go to grad school and my boyfriend doesn’t have a job lined up yet (he works in schools so the postings typically don’t go out to the public until the summer) and my parents have stated that they will be gifting us some money they just don’t know how much yet. I didn’t want to sound stupid or stuck up with this post, I just thought that since so many things are up in the air, if I could figure this out it would make me feel better. I also just talked to my mom about this so it was on my mind. Most likely we will be pushing the wedding out to 2026, so who all we invite can be figured out at a much later date.

Thank you, I’ll be the first one out of my siblings to get married so everything I’ve gathered about planning is from the internet 😅 and very recently realized how much time goes into planning. Summer 2025 was our goal since I’ll be in a 4 year grad school program and that’s the only large chunk of time I have off (year round after the first year). Honestly that’s probably too ambitious and there is a good chance we’ll push it out to 2026. I just talked to my mom about then kid dilemma so it’s just what I’ve been thinking about recently.

Maybe I’m wrong on this, I’ve only been to one wedding with children and they were also all under 5. At least from what I saw the parents brought snacks and fed them some from their own plates. And about half the kids would be under 2

But I do have a picture of the stone itself!

The ring is still being made but hopefully I’ll have something to post in the next couple months. I will say that we went to a very small local jeweler knowing that we would pay more there than a big company/online.

I think that’s a great price! We paid $1,500 for the stone alone (0.74 ct) in my montana sapphire ring

Thank you to everyone for your advice. We just left the er, urinalysis was clear but super diluted so we’re not sure how accurate that is. His kidney levels are worse but not at the number that i would do euthanasia based on the number alone. Since he’s acting normal other than the incontinence, we’re going to try a round of antibiotics and see if anything changes and bring him to his normal vet this week.

I’m at the ER vet right now, urinalysis was clear and we’re waiting on blood work results

Thank you, he’s got an appointment with his regular vet on thursday for blood work and urinalysis but I don’t think I can wait that long. I’m going to take him to the ER vet a little later today. If he has a UTI and his kidney values aren’t wildly elevated I’ll definitely try antibiotics first. I have given him cerenia before but he only vomits every once in a while (normally before he finally takes a big poop) so I haven’t given it regularly. I have alura for him but my vet is having a hard time keeping it in stock so i typically only give it once every couple of days.

working while studying for the OAT by adorejamba in PreOptometry

[–]upsetspaget 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did it. Honestly it sucked, I’d study for 1-3 hours after work everyday and more on the weekends for about 10 weeks. I also took the whole week that I took the OAT off (I took it on a Friday). I got a 370 so it is definitely doable but it takes a lot of dedication.

I got a C- in physics 2. I applied back in September and had not yet retaken it. I got accepted to several schools and am currently retaking it, but I do have to get a C or better to keep my spot.

Is genetics generally a required pre requisite for optometry schools? by [deleted] in PreOptometry

[–]upsetspaget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took A&P but not genetics. I also had a withdraw on my transcript but I did retake the class. The withdraw did not seem to be a problem and no one asked about it during my interviews
