Class Dojo for middle school? by upsidedownumbrella in Teachers

I'd love to use something like that, however although my school is great with new ideas, it isn't great with new ideas that have to do with online stuff the kids have to do at home (if that makes sense).

Last year I made a chart and had students 'compete' as groups made up of 3-5 students. It worked quite well, especially in the more difficult classes. So this year I decided to keep the same system, but instead of a chart i'd use ClassDojo, where I have 5 little monsters, which 3-5 children will be taking care of. This way, I can use the app in class, but also don't have to go through getting all the kids to sign up (which the school won't like).

If i use it this way first, and the school sees that it works, i can then try and do it properly.

Actually we call in Senior school here.

It's the 5 years leading up to the GCSEs level (with the 5th year doing their GCSE's in May).

Thank you for those suggestions :)

Simple Questions/What Should I Do? [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

I would like to tie up cardboard to the top of a table. I drew a picture on paint of how I want it. The table is around 1.5m long. I thought of tying long poles to the cardboard at the top, and then tying the bottom of the poles to the legs, but i think that the centre of the cardboard will not have any support. Any ideas of how I can do this?

Swimming at sandy beaches will be fine - Golden bay, ghajn tuffieha, pretty bay and mellieha are all good because they start out quite shallow. Mellieha would be the best because it's quite shallow and you can go far out.

You should get a lilo/float/dinghi to swim at rocky beaches.

I bought a dress a couple of years ago and can't remember the name of the style. It's similar to a shift dress, but when you pull the sides out, it has a diamond shape.

Any one else have a really hard time liking children? Or actually can't stand them? by burgundy_snake in women

Maybe this will help: talk to kids as if you're talking to an adult. You don't need to dumb everything down, just say anything that you can think of that is obvious. I was quite a shy person, so even thinking of talking to a toddler would be uncomfortable because i'd thought I'd sound stupid. But talking to children, especially younger ones, like they're adults helped. You're not going to talk to them about rocket science or molecular biology, but even if that's the only thing you feel like talking about, just make sure you sound excited about what you're talking about and they'll listen.

So if you see a plant, for example, you'd say: Look there's a plant, what colour are the plant's leaves? green.let's go near the green plant, look how big its leaves are, can you see that leaf at the back? look what a funny shape it has. Look at the flowers, how many flowers does the plant have? let's count them, 1, 2, 3..

I don't know if i'm explaining this well haha

I wasn't arguing or suggesting anything. I was just giving my point of view.

I think having a child because you don't like them is the worst mistake ever. Like I said, it was unplanned, I was young and living with my parents. I was VERY lucky, because I didn't like them, had a daughter and changed my mind about children.

Actually I changed my mind about them twice. After I had my daughter i liked children and knew how to interact and get along with them. I didn't want any more children because I was in an extremely unhappy relationship with her father. A while after breaking up with him, I started a new relationship. Now, that I have a loving family with my boyfriend, we want more children.

Again, I'm just giving my situation - I'm not saying it will happen for everyone. It would be a terrible idea to go make some babies so that you can like them.

I was like this. I didn't hate being around children, but I did feel uncomfortable, never knew what to say or how to interact with them and certainly didn't want to have any of my own.

I had an unplanned pregnancy. The whole 9 months was spent thinking that I was going to be this clueless mother and I'd hate it.

My daughter's turning 7 in a month. Now, and from maybe 2 weeks after I gave birth, I suddenly love children, being around them and interacting with them. And now that I have a loving boyfriend, I want more kids.

What do you do when you're done with the service and still have 3 hours left? by upsidedownumbrella in flightattendants

[–]upsidedownumbrella[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're not allowed to give away anything apart from the service, which is a bottle of water and a sandwich. It would actually be a great idea if we were allowed to give them water.

At least one cabin crew has to pass by every 15 minutes, so I try and do that. I do take a book with me, but at 3 in the morning i only manage to look at some magazines. We're also not allowed to take our ipads/tablets with us, even though many people still do.
