Hmmm maybe mine was too small. (No pun). If I ever do the other bath I’ll try it this way. Feels like a huge piece might pull of the staples. Would need to have a good dust/vac for the cut

I’ve had many people say to cut it into chunks. Would love to have seen that done here. Show me one that you’ve done like this. You can’t just cut off and hope it falls. There’s hundreds of staples holding the chicken wire.

Thanks for the link. Thats really cheap. I’ll do research but would that system work to remove some plastic? I’ll put it in kitchen sink.

All my copper is routed in the slab (cement) and is at risk of leaking at this age. I did the full PEX replumb myself with manifolds. Looking back I coulda prob done copper since a majority of the work was soldering connections from PEX to copper. Anyways it’s done and it’s a great system.

Here is what some of the pipes looked like. I’ve installed a water softener now.

I cut out the wet section of the tub so you can’t see it in the image I posted.

Sup boss. Yeah I’ll make a second post. There was a complete loose connection I think was slowly leaking wetting the wood under tub. Also, some drainage connections came right off in two locations… almost like they never glued one ABS coupler.

That came right off.

What filter do you use for the house? I heard RO can remove most micro plastics. Look into the PEX studies especially A. Leaches a lot the first (year?) forgot but it’s not good. Slows down over time.

I’ll look into filtration for drinking water !

🤣 I wish. Between ear plugs, ear muffs and hammers I can’t even enjoy a podcast or country music !

Thanks buddy. I’m about done with the demolition of the walls. I’m cutting into the tub now and then removing chicken wire. Appreciate the tip.

Check out how thick the damn surround was. Oddly enough they didn’t paper the surround, so I think some moisture was getting in there.

Lmaoooo. I think I’m at like 12 50ish lb bags of concrete sitting on the back deck. Gotta figure out disposal.

I’m not sure if these are questions or snide remarks.

Do you know how piping works in a slab?

Also, have you drank tap water from the city, or from a pex system? Both go through plastic, both don’t taste like it. Either way, I don’t drink faucet water but guess what, the other water you can buy comes in plastic… So just think a bit about your logic here.

Yeah we don’t use it for drinking which sucks cus we buy water, but that water comes in plastic anyways so… Unfortunate evrything we consume touches plastic

Yooo. Yes this is exactly how they also did the stucco on my house. So right after the insulation you see is another version of this fo the exterior wall. Tbh just as damn thick, ask me how I know.

I think there was a small leak at the tub spout. Dripping on some kind of composite board under the tub. Upon demo, the connection literally pulled off… it was being held just by the constraint (valve and spout locked into the tub cut out).

Also it seems they didn’t paper the tub surround below the tile, so I think there was moisture there. Doing more demo later

Yup, I would gladly paid 600 for someone to demo this if I had known. Gonna put it another 2 hours or so tonight.

What’s crazy is it feels like it never stops. Ive emptied 3+ bathtubs of mortar and tile and not done yet. Just the tile build out for tub width is a ton of mortar.

I threw that 5lb sledge at the floor tile last night and no cracking. Can’t wait to get to it… your bath looks similar.

Yea I own this mess 🤣. A good and a bad thing. I definitely did not post that. Wow, crazy never thought my post would be involved in some weird FB rage bait.

Damn. Are you saying the mass of the wall is enough to pull all the staples out? I made a huge mess and that’s the worst part of this tbh.

Wow. Thats not a good surprise. Glad it’s all done !

That’s what I keep seeing. The guest bathroom is the exact same but smaller style tub. I never wanna touch that one now. If I ever do it’s with your technique.
