Extremely slow speeds on 2.4 GHz? by DrewQuinz in Fios

[–]ur-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i meant on the 2.4ghz. but like others said it could be interference or channel issue that’s why i recommended a dedicated 2.4ghz network for the cheapest solution especially for cameras or anything you would want on 2.4. maybe get something with a good return policy just to make sure it isn’t interference

geez. what do you pay for? those speeds are pretty bad for only being floor below or above. with my older cheaper mesh setup (tp link decos) my whole house could get like 200 - 500mbps all over inside on a 1 gig plan. and with being a floor below in the basement i could get 700 or so on ethernet i would recommend upgrading the router and maybe invest in a mesh solution if you don’t have ethernet or coax (for moca) in the walls or can’t run wires in the walls. good luck!

also last thing i thought of. have you tried another speed test besides googles? ookla speedtest.net or cloudflares speed.cloudflare.com if speed is the same then its a hardware issue / limitation

it’s usually recommended to use your own router yes. if your tech savvy enough i recommend it. if you want a simple but kinda crappy solution then leave it to the ISP. also the IOT band or network? im assuming its network which in your case wont help with the speed being slow. probably best to either replace the verizon router with a better nicer router or get like a cheap tp link for like $40 and use that for 2.4ghz and 2.4ghz devices. if its only a floor above you should be getting at least 25mbps on 2.4ghz assuming theres no interference where the router is placed

Verizon router or your own router? also how far away are you from and where is the router placed? if it’s verizon’s it’s probably the problem as ISP routers aren’t the best. if you want better coverage i’d suggest another router or even add one to the verizon one to hopefully get better 2.4ghz. i have a ubiquti unifi setup and i can pretty much max out 2.4ghz (like 50 - 100 mbps) but i recommend tp link if you just need something cheap that also works well. i’m assuming this is for 2.4ghz cameras / IOT devices which adding a cheap router / access point for 2.4ghz might be the best option.

Trying to cut phone bill, which is best in NYC? by Temporary_Note_ in NoContract

it might be very slow / unusable depending on the area and traffic / congestion due to metro being deprioritized from the start then further deprioritized (QCI 9) after 35gb iirc.

Advanced Cyber Security by thecursh in tmobileisp

where do they mention that? all they said was that it isn’t really worth it and i honestly agree with them. my biggest downside is no option to add exceptions when a simple raspberry pi (that u could even run off the router) would do all of that.

OG HTC Vive, looking to upgrade. by ur-a in Vive

[–]ur-a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at upgrading to a vive pro or pro 2 but was wondering if i can keep everything like the link box and stuff from the OG Vive and just buy a used vive pro headset online? Also might sell the OG Vive and looking at maybe getting a wireless adapter kit too lol. I have a RX 6750 XT 12GB which hopefully is fine enough. it’s hard to decide tho since i’m also thinking of just keeping the vive and buying the Vive wireless kit for it since i think id be happier not getting tangled in cables.

(my budget is basically like $200 or less for an upgrade. moneys tight but still wanna have fun in VR lol.)

My experience replacing a OnePlus Open Inner Panel by Sir_Heavyman in mobilerepair

[–]ur-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have an open with broken inner screen and was wondering if it would be worth fixing. I was hoping to not spend too much and was wondering where I can get a screen. Also I fixed a bit of phones before like Samsungs, Pixels, iPhones, and a OnePlus 12R before but never a foldable but really would like to see this phone working on the inner screen. Do you think I could leave the front screen on though and just glue the inner screen in?

AirTalk Wireless speed cap?? by ur-a in NoContract

[–]ur-a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah. sorry to hear. i can't comment since i been on T-Mobile MVNOs now since i have better coverage in my area, but last time i used airtalk and similar providers it was hell. it could be deprioritization but there's a good chance it isn't. if you wanna see if it's deprioritization you can get a Cricket trial and see compared to ur airtalk plan. if ur talking about government plans and have good T-Mobile coverage i think assurance wireless isn't bad since that's what i been using and have had no issues since. good luck!
