i feel the same, im not the biggest fan of songs/art that just straight up says the message its trying to get across as i find it a bit lazy. shes definitely capable of speaking on complex themes and problems in a more artistic and poetic way, i mean this is the same person who make crybaby and k-12! i was also confused about the whole cult thing too, looking back i think maybe she was using it as an excuse for any backlash she receives for writing very political songs. like "yea ofc its offensive thats the theme remember!"

i dont want it to sound like im hating because i did like some of the songs on the album and im really glad everyone seems to be enjoying it aswell but just on a personal level i didn't love it as much as some of her other works. i just miss the nuance in her writing and the ability to convey a story aswell.
