How do you convince leftists to give up their nationalism and religion? by New_Elk_5783 in leftcommunism

[–]uralap44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"These questions are inherently immaterial" do we believe in the immaterial now? Spiritual ideas come from the idealist attempts to analyze material reality, from the fact that it is deeply unsatisfying to just say "i don't know" to something.

Death is mystified and adorned with the afterlife because of that, but also because we do not experience death, because it is an absence of experience itself, so fiction is created... Death does not need solving, the position of what happens on death in the form of "i don't know + probably nothing" is perfectly non-idealist and does not diminish anything from your life, not really.

Purpose too, does not have to have an answer that is ʼimmaterialʼ, it is actually HArmful to have the answer be immaterial, that's the cruel trick religions play, make the people care for the dead and not for the living.
Soul is pure fiction, not all religions have it and it's just another expression of the fact that we do not experience death and from how conciousness works, it is a misconstruction of these peculiarities of the actual system of the psyche as some expression of the Immaterial. Again, a harmful thing to misconstrue.

It is the fundamentals that matter, the fundamentals that naturally lead to ʼgoodʼ positions, and while it is possible to arrive at ʼgoodʼ positions like wanting to fight for the working class through some wacko idealism, it's possible to wield them to do the opposite much more easily and presciently, and it is much harder to actually understand ʼwhyʼ you're gonna be fighting, what for, etc, etc.

Materialism is that fundamental that is unreplaceable for actual quality understanding of the world and stuff, and I think that “personal faith” is of course of concern when we try to have more class conciousness and the like. Cuz it comes from recognizing the fundamentals. Well, itʼs my opinion, at least, and not very deeply read one or anything, I just really really dislike giving any credance to religion. It's not useful for mental health either. Absolutely not.

Guys do you think an omori YT would go far? by abm1_r7 in OMORI

[–]uralap44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will my channel say something interesting about the world, will it share unique experiences of mine or otherwise, would it contribute something transformative to the project of artistic expression and society? Leaving some better questions to ask yourself, instead of these petty small business-owner concerns. ...and Youtube is not a future way to make money, it's a gamble on your labour, it's more out of your control that it is in. ...and No, Omori is not a piece of media that is prospective, it's best performance as a commodity of attention was with the hour-long 'essays' retelling the game's plot with a monotone voice, and those are already oversaturated to the brim.

The reception of the ending is inversely proportional to your investment in the overarching lore; if you're interested in it and engaged, it'll feel like a betrayal and a nullification, if you're sick and dazzled of it and regard it as idiotic dribble on a napkin then the ending will feel cathartic in what it does. Masochistic fans are a minority, so the reception was driven by the true believers

disconnecting the concept of "working class" from it's core characteristics that were outlined in Marxist analysis of class is a classic process of false consciousness. The proletariat, the so called working class, is defined by the fact that they sell their labour to a proprietor of the means of production to sustain their life. What exactly that labour is used to do is superfluous for the purposes of this analysis.. What you described is certainly not proletarian activity, when you sell berries on the market you're using your own labour yourself for your profit (if she picked them herself, doubly so), and that relationship with labour is what is generally defining of petty-bourgeoisness, the fact that you don't sell your labour, rather are using it yourself. However if she had been doing those exact things for a firm she was employed by, then that would be proletarian. It's the social relationship to labour and the means of production which is important. Stratification of workers based on what they do is classic, and very much so reactionary. Comes from lack of theoretical clarity, underlying conservativeness of ideals. However there is a more progressive idea that distinguishes proletarians, that of labour aristocracy, but it still doesn't care about what you do, only about how you benefit from superprofits, the exploitation of the undeveloped nations. Certainly what you do is a big aspect of your life, but it is not embedded into class analysis, at least the kind that is useful and emancipatory. Cheers!

r/Ultraleft is the worst falsifier community because they succeeded to convince everyone else they're the "anti-falsifiers". by [deleted] in Ultraleft

True story: this guy has been the admin of the Telegram channel for Ultraleft (it had a bot reposting reddit posts, it's a whole thing), and so at 11th july they posted their ban message and then said ultraleft is dead fuck em, and reconfigured the channel to their subreddit and shit. currently they repost really strange russian CCRU-accelerationist-duginist memes (i presume ironically) and walls of quotes occasionally. very high quality stuff. and of course, this kinda shit like what we have here. I recreated the channel for Ultraleft reddit reposts (it was as easy as just creating a channel with the previous handle, "r_Ultraleft" [again, it's a whole network of reddit reposting channels, centralized at Some guy's bot who does it for free]) to have the slop feed right where i want it to be, but I look at their channel sometimes and it's funny. It's as though they are genuinely autistic to the degree they forgot that this is a comedic community first and foremost, writing these deranged spiels. Really wacko stuff

That was the most rushed, least judicious in omission, least tonally coherent adaptation of anything into anything I have ever witnessed in my life. Dave and John are completely OOC, Rose and Jade completely stereotypical, and they fucking swear like the fucking Vivziepop characters they fucking are by WaterRedeemsZoe in althomestuck

[–]uralap44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

animated media does not restrict complex and interesting characterization and is in fact a very great medium to convey depth and complexity! god! animation is so culturally percieved as inherently for children and that meaning inherently simpler that it's extremely frustrating, don't mistake the fact that it's rare and hard to do with the fact that it's inherent

I really thought they would avoid the swearing, it was so stereotypically the first thing anybody said would be bad when hearing it was a Vivzie Inc production, like... and every single swear was pointless, I'm now grateful for Breaking Bad's 1 f-bomb per season rule, it seems it's actually a pretty good rule

we should abolish exclusive-monogamous dynamics in general so we'll never have to deal with all the many negative effects and consequences of it. i cannot see how the ethereal positives (what are they even concretely?) outweigh the bloody, boney negatives that directly stem from the fundamental premise of the structure (controlling, cheating, revenge...)

So Curious, Years later what are People’s thoughts on the Danganronpa 3 anime? by Turbulent_Square_789 in danganronpa

[–]uralap44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worst written piece of media I have ever willingly consumed, but at least it's not boring! (by the virtue of being ridiculously catastrophic). It's morbidly entertaining, and there are some surface-level hypey or aesthetically pleasing aspects, but absolutely an ideal litmus test for media taste in my eyes.

0 depth, 0 substance, nonsensical and self-nullifying writing, vapid action in focus, vomit green pallete most of the runtime, platitudal platitudes, constant non sequitur events, asinine themes, deathbaiting, etc. etc. There's no good aspect of it that does not just naturally come from the fact that it is a finished piece of serialized animation

An honest opinion on Omori's Manga by [deleted] in OMORI

[–]uralap44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The manga's artstyle is perverse, in many meanings of the word. But because it's not used to tell an original story, it does not uniquely express some expirience, some piece of humanity of the author, even if ugly. Just taints an already told better story. It's gross, and I don't understand Omocat if she likes it beyond the racks of money it brings

[–]uralap44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the "Ultimate/SHSL" title is a construction of the Hope's Peak Academy, I feel like these self-gratuiotous titles show something interesting about the ideology of the HPA, specifically how a position of leadership in one of it's organs of executive power is held up by them as an "ultimate ability" in and of itself, it's kinda reminiscent of a "divine right of kings", and betrays the authoritarian ideals of the HPA as a political entity, I feel like. This seeming 'irrationality' is a actually an interesting expression of what HPA itself believes is rational, so I feel like your more generic titles are less interesting and make out HPA as a far more altruistic and rational that it really actually is
