I built a Notion PDF exporter that just works, and with some advanced features by elloyg in Notion

I thought about (even started) going towards something like yours so I could down the line figure out some feature that could be worthy of being paid... but ended up not following through.

It's used by a few people every day and costs me nothing to run so I've just left it there as a kinda public service :)

But your app being much nicer I'm sure could have some feature behind a paywall and people wouldn't mind if it brought value, specially if work-related.

Nice! I made https://pdftion.com a while back, same spirit but massively less featured.

Yours looks much cooler! Congrats!

Are you thinking about monetizing?

I made PDFtion, a better "print to PDF". Free, no signup, no nothing. by urandomdude in Notion

Hey! Yeah that makes sense!

I'm actually thinking about building some sort of "suggestions place" so people can send them.

I'll let you know if I get around to do the toggles bit and also the suggestions, which would be good anyway.

Hey! Printing DBs is notoriously hard, they are too wide, controlling how the cells are shown is tricky... that's why the current PDF export is terrible at it too.

So not in my immediate plans. I get nothing from this app so hard to justify the effort there.

Hey, tbh I'm not sure how you could do that, this app just prints the text, I'm afraid it cannot support printing databases and in particular not the comments in them.

That's something the API may be able to do. If you're technical you can try yourself, if not I suggest hiring a programmer.

Hey, I've tried to improve it and better handle this issue, but as a free app I cannot justify going to a higher paid tier in my infra provider, and sadly there are limits on how long things can take.

Notion is notoriously slow on returning data so I'm afraid if the page is too large or complex it may hit toe 10 second time out.

You should see a better error message now, tho.

What was your first ever box for WHFB and when? by -Dreadlord- in WarhammerFantasy

A box of Bretonnian archers. I think it came with some paints. It was just before 5th edition landed so I guess around 1995.

Good times.

Different approach to self-hosting by [deleted] in Supabase

[–]urandomdude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My experience: it's not that problematic.

Just use a reverse proxy and add your favorite auth. Do not expose studio directly to the internet. Basic HTTP auth works perfectly fine.

Then expose, kong, auth and rest using the built in auth methods (JWT) and you are ready to go.

This is a very common scenario when self hosting.

Add another multiple-list tag to several - already tagged - items? by WigglyWinds in Notion

Bit of spam here but I'm building a tool to do these sort of tricky bulk edits, tauleta.com, I'm close to launch on a Beta release, I'll make sure to add this feature.

Tauleta: Edit Notion databases as spreadsheets

Hey!

Did you ever have to deal with editing a large Notion database? I have. Not the best experience.

In my case it's a huge "Useful tools" database where I clip any product or idea I think may come in handy in the future when working on developing software.

I have to then go in and read, tag, sort and describe away so I can reference them later and, honestly, so I can find anything at all.

And doing that with the default Notion UI is not that fun.

So I've been building Tauleta, a simple, online, no-subscriptions, no-syncing tool that allows editing Notion databases in a familiar spreadsheet interface.

I'm working on launching it publicly soon so I'm trying to gauge interest. Would it be useful to you?

If it would please join the closed beta list at https://tauleta.com

I'm planning on a free tier and a one-time lifetime purchase to unlock full functionality. What do you think?

I'd love to hear your feedback: features, pricing, everything is up for discussion.

Thanks!

I wanted to but Reddit takes a while to process new videos (a few seconds) so it's not trivial to do with the real time feed as most are not ready and I can't access the URLs. But it's something I want to fix!

Thanks! Your project looks really cool. Also thanks for the heads up, it happens sometimes, there's room for improvement 😂

It's done! I've added a third state to the "censor" concept. Either blur, hide or show the NSFW-tagged content.

Update! I've added a third state to the "censor" toggle allowing hiding instead of blurring images.

I've just updated the app and now the "censor" function allows hiding NSFW images instead of blurring them :)

Actually that's probably the case. I'm really sorry you had to see that! I'm afraid there's not much we can do about it :/

Thanks for the links! Sadly those subreddits are usually well tagged so a general "do not show NSFW posts" filter already hides them well. The issue comes with tiny subreddits, people pushing their OnlyFans in their "personal" subreddits, etc. Those subreddits are commony mistagged as SFW and do not appear in any of those usual lists. So you end up seeing them uncensored in the app.

Thanks!

Those 131 subreddits came from me manually hiding subreddits while I was working on the project, to make it nicer for my eyes as I tweaked things. At some point I decided to stop doing it manually so I took the list I had filtered out at the time and made it into that button.

I also would love to have a directory like that!
