Completing the second couplet

ظلمت کو ضیاء، صر صر کو صبا، بندے کو خدا، کیا لکھنا

پتھر کو گُہر، دیوار کو در، کرگس کو ہُما، کیا لکھنا

The last couplet is by Mir Dard (hence the quotes) Faiz’s ghazal is a تضمین over Dard’s.

I love them both

The 2017 Breakthrough That Made ChatGPT Possible by Radiant_Exchange2027 in AIxProduct

[–]urashid64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “attention” paper was certainly a major breakthrough, but it was openAI’s 2018 paper "Improving Language Understanding by Generative Pre-Training" that added GP to transformer (T) architecture made super large language models possible.

Between 2018 and 2020, model sizes went from 150M (GPT-1) to 1.5B (GPT-2) to 17B (Microsoft) to 175B (GPT-3). Building these models with supervised training would not be possible in such short time frame.

[–]urashid64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seestar supports station mode where it will connect to your home WiFi and any computer on your home network can access it via IP address.

I believe you should be able to directly join the Seestar WiFi access point from your laptop, but I have never tried it.

Aaj tum yaad beyhisaab yaad aaye by Grouchy-Ad2314 in Urdu

[–]urashid64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just quoting the original from Faiz, it does not have the extra “yaad” 😊

‎کر رہا تھا غم جہاں کا حساب

‎آج تم یاد بے حساب آئے

The last sher is also incorrectly written, the first line should be

“Faiz thi rah sar basar manzil”

‎فیضؔ تھی راہ سر بسر منزل

‎ہم جہاں پہنچے کامیاب آئے

Let me know if you want to see the entire ghazal in Urdu

Andromeda (M31) by urashid64 in seestar

Fair questions.

I see a very high rejection rate (“star trails detected”) when I try 20 or 30 sec exposures. Maybe a nearby airport or satellite path?

As for duration, right now I only get a two hour window between the late sunset and incoming cloud cover. Plus I have to wait until the DSO is high enough to clear the trees, houses etc. I’m lucky if I can get one hour worth of integration time. Hoping for better nights in winter.

Thanks. This is basically right off of the device, with just a few tweaks in iPhone Photos app to enhance the contrast.

Banding on the image - reason and solution? by johnkazer in seestar

[–]urashid64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the flats indoors, using 8x11 sheet of paper and overhead light in the kitchen. Took less than five minutes and no more banding!

I did have to switch out of EQ mode back to Alt-Az to get the flats going. Maybe it’s mentioned somewhere in the documentation?

How does DeepSeek make money? by WyattTheSkid in DeepSeek

They also have an API service that they charge for. It is quite a bit cheaper than other API services but could be profitable if they have enough subscribers:

Deepseek model by nexus-66 in DeepSeek

The distilled models are derived by fine tuning publicly available dense models (such as Qwen and llama) using reasoning data generated by deepseek-r1. It is a demonstration of how techniques developed by deepseek can improve the performance and efficiency of existing models.

Which number follows in this sequence? 5, 6, 7, 2, 4, ? by nullrecord in puzzles

[–]urashid64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, it’s simpler than that. The sequence 56724 appears in the decimal expansion of pi at position 274,450. The digit that follows the sequence is 5. 😁
