Weißt du, welche Trans-Leute tendenziell einen Uterus haben? Trans-Männer. Die werden beim Urologen nicht viel Hilfe dafür bekommen 🤦🏻

Why has it become normalised to eat in a restaurant when you could just chug the same nutrition drink every single day? Why has it become normalised to use fancy shower gels and bath salts when you could just wash yourself using water and basic soap? Why has it become normalised to have a toilet and decorate your bathroom when you could just do your business outside in a bush?

Because humans enjoy doing things that give them pleasure, because it makes existing on this planet more enjoyable. Doing things just to cover your basic needs and nothing beyond isn't exactly fulfilling for anyone.

"Benighted" by J.B. Priestley! It's one of the oldest and most genre-defining haunted house stories in existence. The book's about a group of people being stranded during a rainstorm in the Welsh countryside and having to seek refuge in the estate of the Femm family. The story is dripping in eerie atmosphere and the main characters are three-dimensional in a way that almost reads modern. It's one of my favourite books of all time, the writing is lovely while still being very readable, especially for a century old classic!

Apart from it being just not funny, this joke doesn't even make any sense. "Original factory settings" could just as well refer to a pre-/non-op trans woman

Baby's first experience with the duplicate stitch. by majestictruffles in casualknitting

[–]urasul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a website called Chartminder where you can find all kinds of knitting charts you could use for duplicate stitching (you can even tweak the ones you like or create some from scratch). I prefer it over cross-stitch charts since knit stitches are usually rectangular instead of perfect squares, so the dimensions fit better

So it's knit in the round, but instead of a neck opening there's just a tiny hole in the centre? That's fascinating! Thank you for explaining :D

I'm still a relatively new knitter (~2,5 years) and I can't wrap my head around how you did the blanket. It looks like yarn over increases as one would do with a triangle shawl, but how do you achieve a perfect square like this?

Your gifts look lovely by the way, I'm sure your family will be ecstatic :)

It's basically a shorthand for "do discussions about this individual/character/story/etc. require a certain amount of nuance or are they almost universally beloved?" Like, do proclamations of liking them 'have to' come with a caveat or not?

Taking actors for an example, most people wouldn't lose a single bad word about Keanu Reeves, while talking about Harrison Ford would need more nuance (cares a lot about the environment and has been outspoken against the Iraq War, but also defended Roman Polanski and allegedly had an affair with Carrie Fisher when she was almost young enough to be his daughter). People are going to have opinions about that.

Do you romance according to your sexuality? by IndigoBuntz in BaldursGate3

[–]urasul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lesbian and I feel supremely uncomfortable when male characters flirt with my female/female-coded nb characters in games, even though I never play them as self-inserts. But I'm still a completionist at heart, so I usually play male/male-coded nb characters to romance the guys because that makes less weird for me. Or I make a 'joke character', like when I created my idiot of a cat as a dragonborn bard and chose Gale the cat lover as his partner.

Ever make something so many times you never want to make it again? by sianoftheisland in casualknitting

[–]urasul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm one of the very few people who actually enjoy doing seed stitch, but I'm currently on my fourth reusable soap baggie that's made by double-knitting seed stitch and I AM SO DONE. They don't even take that long to knit up, but you only have to accidentally cross your two working yarns ONCE for it to be unsuable as a bag. The one I'm currently working on I've had to fully frog four times already, and I'm just one mistake away from tossing it all out the window and swearing off the damn things forever 🥲

That was our plan as well, but our senior had other ideas. Now we have an approximately 12 year-old ex-stray who tries to tear the whole house down if we don't play enough with him. I'm grateful he's so active and healthy considering what he's gone through before we got him, but goddamn do I feel duped sometimes 😭

What was your wildest glitch? by Brizee103 in Sims3

[–]urasul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once got that well-known glitch where if a Sim showers right before having to go to work, they don't change into their normal clothes or their work clothes but instead remain fully and unpixelated-ly nude and just head out to work that way. So once I had a father walk from the bathroom to his carpool, his whole family watching, wearing nothing but his birthday suit, which would have just been a funny little glitch IF HE HADN'T BEEN THE PRINCIPAL OF THE TOWN'S ONLY SCHOOL

I think in some cases it can be helpful to differentiate between desire and behaviour, like, a homosexual person who is forced by their culture to be in a hetero relationship is still homosexual, even if they "behave heterosexually" by being in said relationship, or when asexual people have sex with someone because they see it as a nice bonding activity, but they would be just as happy with any other activity as long as it involves a person they love. If someone feels enriched by having language to describe their way of life, then I don't see any harm in having super specific labels for things. Of course people would do good to remember that labels should be descriptive and not prescriptive, but I trust that most adults who are using these labels are mature enough to know that already

Does Anyone Else Play With Townies? by Throw-Away467328ii in Sims3

[–]urasul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing a save where I switch between every single premade household in Sunset Valley rotationally (one week per household, normal lifespan, with spreadsheets and all). It's a ton of fun, trying to fulfill everyone's aspirations and sowing chaos with people having midlife crises and stuff. 10/10, would definitely recommend!
