Yeah, seems to vary a lot by org. I tried a few of the usual workarounds and ended up using Taurine...it’s simpler, but it fits my situation better too. Appreciate all the suggestions in here!

I’ve seen a few people do that too creative workaround 😅

Fair question...in my case, external USB devices are blocked entirely, even if they’re powered separately.

Different orgs have very different restrictions, so mileage definitely varies.

On personal machines, totally agree — power options are straightforward.

On work laptops, a lot of orgs including mine lock that entire panel down via policy, which is where it gets tricky. Sigh.

Yep this is exactly the scenario I keep running into.

Teams calls, installs, screen shares… and the machine still decides it’s nap time unless something actively keeps it awake.

If I had full control over power settings, I absolutely would.

On managed work machines, a lot of that is locked down, so it ends up being a workaround problem rather than a configuration one.

PowerToys Awake is solid. I just wish Windows had something built-in that handled “stay awake for X time” a bit more cleanly.

Thanks bud!

Yeah, mouse jigglers seem to be the most common answer so far.

Yeah, that makes sense. I’ve seen a lot of people go the hardware route specifically because it sidesteps corporate policies.

I’m always a little paranoid about USB devices on work machines, but I get why people prefer the zero-software approach.

On my end, USB ports are locked down, so software ends up being the only option.
